Pluto A Planet?

Grinspoon and Stern are using ethos and logos but mostly ethos, because they are backing some
things with facts but I don’t think they have enough and they are using ethos mostly because they are
using International Astronomical Union information . So it’s credibility to the International Astronomical
Union (IAU) and because they use a lot of their information so they are giving them credit that’s ethos,
also the facts it’s from the (IAU) so they are still getting the credibility. For example they use it here,
“International Astronomical Union (IAU) announced an attempted redefinition of the word planet that
excluded many objects, including Pluto.” So that was information they found to help them out with the
Pluto argument, but here some facts they also use, “Among the few facts we’ve been able to ascertain
about this body is that it is tiny (just 17 miles across) and distinctly nonspherical.” Then again they give
IAU scientists credibility for defining the word planet in “strange way” because what they said could
either confirm that Pluto is a planet. Then here they say, “Authors who mistakenly accepted the
authority of the IAU as the final word.” So when they make a mistake it’s their information that was
wrong or flawed plus everyone will still argue that Pluto is a planet and it is not planet until they find
some kind of life on the planet everyone will stop arguing about this. Until then they are going to
announce that it is a planet and say it was a flawed decision and going back to see if the information was
right or wrong. They go back and see, “boulders, icy comets or rocky and metallic asteroids, all of which
are small and lumpy because their gravity is too weak for self – rounding.” So they are using ethos and
logos because they are giving creditability to people and using some facts of their own off the
information they found and get .
