19° arrondissement( dix-neuvième)

6.786 km2
Turistic points:

- Parc de la Villette, the Museum of Science and Industry

- La Géode, one of the most interesting buildings in Paris. Resembling a giant mirror ball, this sphere
is covered with more than six thousand stainless steel triangles that reflect images of the
surrounding environment. Inside the theater, the giant hemisphere-shaped movie screen is made up
of many perforated aluminum panels and measures more than 80 feet in diameter.
- The Cité de la Musique in the 19th arrondissement Parc de la Villette (location of the largest meat
market in France ) contains concert halls, a media library, and the Museum of Music, which houses
one of the largest collections of musical instruments in the world.
- Sitting in both the 19th and 20th arrondissements, Buttes-Chaumont Park was a former limestone
quarry that was transformed into a sprawling, Romantic-period park in the 19th century.
- is the last remaining lift-bridge in Paris. Right next to this bridge is an arched pedestrian bridge,
and from there you get a great view of the lifting action. In 2010 Pont Crimée was completely
renovated and got a new lifting roadbed, manufactured elsewhere and floated down the Canal de
l'Ourcq.

Pace of life:
- cultural hub, especially with the new Philharmonie de Paris music complex.
- 185,000 of them live here, and it's one of a few arrondissements where the numbers continue to
rise. It's at its population peak right now. Compare that to the 7th Arrondissement, which reached
its peak in 1954 and whose population has dropped 30% since then.
- Why does this section of Paris have such cute little houses? It seems that, like Buttes Chaumont,
this area was the site of gypsum mines. Once the gypsum was mined out, the ground was left poked
with holes and tunnels — a situation that wouldn't support heavier buildings.
- Characterized as unsafe by visitors that came to this area. Htere are people asking for “money”,
and they also mentioned drunk and heroine high mans on the street appearing to be probably
waiting for something.
- Although it has many affordable places.
- You will need a good reason to get into the 19. Since this is one way out, and it lacked the
signature attractions of other neighborhoods. We went to visit the Buttes Chaumont and enjoyed
the excursion, but there was a way. Highly residential houses with diverse neighborhoods and
mixed ethnicities-both Arab and Jewish areas and Les Francais.

19 ° arrondissement (dix-neuvième)
6,786 km2
Points Turistic:

semblaient attendre quelque chose.

20° arrondissement

- Easy to get to and from the subway. Very cosmopolitan and inexpensive for eats-no more than €12
per seat for both of us. Also the house of the cemetery Père Lachaise,
- It is the main restaurant and in some it would only say--tourist attraction is the huge Pere Lachaise
cemetery, where numerous famous celebrities are buried. These include Frederic Chopin, Jim
Morrison, Maria Callas, Oscar Wilde, runs Yves Montad, Balzac and the list up and up.
-

Pace of life:
- Mostly working class, the district holds a variety of immigrant groups, including black Africans,
Chinese and Thai cuisine
- It is the home to the neighborhoods of Menilmontant and Belleville
- Because living costs have always been cheaper here than central Paris, the area has attracted
immigrants, refugees, and poorer people coming in from rural France
