Determined to Succeed

My name is Elijah McCalister, a 17 year old who is planning to apply to several colleges

after graduation and hopefully with the Grace of GOD get into one. I have always been curious

and interested in the criminal justice system. Past influences have driven me into educating

myself more into learning about law enforcement. I am a very driven and determined student. I

have always been interested in the areas of special investigation, interrogation, and undercover

work, specifically as a detective. My goal while attending college will be to learn as much

information as I can in order to be successful and make a difference in this world while being

the best version of myself.

I would like to attend Sacramento State, located in the hometown of our beloved state

capitol. I visited this school once on a class field trip for Choir Class. I really enjoyed my time

there, feeling like a college student already there. We looked at tall campus buildings that were

really beautiful for the eye to see. We traveled all over the campus. I took pictures and it was

exciting. This amazing school provides the (LECS) Law Enforcement program that i felt would

be ideal for me. It's in a wonderful location and has an economy that is continuously thriving, I

feel Sacramento would be a great choice and location for me. The area is simple, the diversity is

widespread, and the weather here is perfect. There are many book stores, libraries, and museums

too seek and thrive off of to expand my educational skills needed to succeed in this industry.

With that said, I feel that my goals are reachable. The key to my success is continuing my

education after high school and the will to open my mind fully in all aspects of life. My strive to

attend college here at Sacramento State is prominent too me, and I feel persistent to achieve this

goal. I hope to create a successful career for myself in this specific industry, so I can make a

difference in this world and in God's eyes. By building leadership skills, commutative skills as

well as physical strength, i feel that i could benefit greatly by attending college.
