Welcome to Oasis Academy Leesbrook

Welcome to our very first Oasis Academy Leesbrook Newsletter!

I am so excited to welcome all of our Year 7 and Year 8 students into Oasis Academy
Leesbrook, in September. These students will be our trailblazers; the very first students who will
form the foundations of our school. This is such a unique and exciting opportunity and I know
that, already, our Middleton Road students are so excited about this.

There have been lots of exciting developments as we prepare to become Oasis Academy
Leesbrook. We are in the process of appointing new staff and have the highest of expectations
in order to recruit the absolute best teachers and support staff to ensure our academy offers an
outstanding educational provision. To this end, I am delighted to inform you that, last week, we
appointed Mr Paul Jones as our Assistant Principal. Paul has a track record of excellence,
working in good and outstanding schools and has spent a large proportion of his career at the
local Saddleworth High School. This post was an extremely popular role attracting over 60
applications and a strong field at interview however, Paul’s passion to ensure the best possible
outcomes for every single student at Oasis Leesbrook, and his plan for how this could be
realised, ensured that he was the successful candidate. I know that he is extremely excited to be
a founding part of the Oasis Academy Leesbrook journey and looks forward to meeting with our
Leesbrook community.

We have some very exciting opportunities coming up at Oasis Academy Leesbrook for parents
and students to meet Mr Jones, our Student Leaders and other staff and students from the
academy. In May, we have our Getting to Know You—Pizza Night’ which will give students and
parents the opportunity to meet our students, other students joining Year 7 and staff…all whilst
enjoying a slice of pizza! This will be a great opportunity to ask any questions or swap contact
details with other students in the Oasis Leesbrook Family. Then, in July, we have our Transition
Day where students will get the opportunity to spend a day at the academy as a student, and get
to know the staff and students. During that evening, we invite parents in for a presentation with
key information about our academy expectations and aspirations; uniform and the day-to-day
operational information in preparation for students starting in September. We strongly advise all
parents to attend this as there is a lot of important information shared. I am certainly excited
about these opportunities to meet with students and parents and to share our vision as we
become the Oasis Academy Leesbrook family.

I hope that you enjoy our first newsletter and really look forward to welcoming you into our
academy in the coming months.

Best Wishes,

Sarah Livesey

Principal
Leesbrook Leaders

I am delighted to announce our student leaders. Nearly half of the students at our Middleton Road
Campus applied for various leadership positions, with real success. On Monday, Mr Peter Roberts,
Chair of our Academy Council, presented badges to over twenty Leesbrook Leaders who will all support
the new Year 7s as they join Oasis Academy Leesbrook. In addition, we have appointed a Student
Leadership Team who will meet with myself and the leadership team regularly and advise me on how to
improve the school or any changes they feel need to be made. This team is made up of six students,
four of whom have additional roles that are extremely important within our academy: Deputy Head Girl
and Boy and Head Girl and Boy. Ishaa, Subhan, Katie-May and Szymon all excelled in their applications
and interviews and are absolutely committed to ensuring that Oasis Academy Leesbrook is excellent in
every sense. Their roles will be key in ensuring the students’ voices are heard and are a key part of
every development at Oasis Academy Leesbrook.
