1. Proposal for Conducting Online CBT Recruitment Examination

GINGER WEBS proposes the following for Conduction of CBT examination followed by Typing test
for the Recruitment of Stenographers through BIHAR PUBLIC SELECTION COMMISSION:

3. Proposed Solution

3.1. Solution to Online Examination (Centre Based Test)

To conduct an online examination, a CBT system will be developed and proposed for adoption in
BIHAR PUBLIC SELECTION COMMISSION for recruitment process. The information system
will be an online examination system that delivers questions set by the BIHAR PUBLIC
SELECTION COMMISSION administrator to the candidates and generates the report of the
results of candidates who take the examination as well as overall examination result summary
based on the user’s query. Challenges including examination malpractices, low capacity
examination venues, inadequate invigilators, inadequate examination materials, omission of
Candidate’s results and human error(s) during the marking / grading process will be automatically
eliminated following the adoption of this Centre Based Examination system. The cost implication
of conducting a mass-driven examination will become drastically and significantly reduced as
there will be no need to print questions or answer booklets anymore.

2. CBT Local Server Application Features

configured in a Centre. Along with this other information is shown to track Centre i.e.
Centre Code, Centre Name, Centre City, technical person contact no. who will be
available on exam day etc.

which is received through proper connection in LAN.
i. Feature to track the activity Logs of each student. There are various options on
page to filter the grid data i.e. select Date, Select Test, Search by CBT ID, Refresh
Button.
j. Backup Server to take continuous backup from Main Server at each Test Centre
and availability of continuous Back-Up and restoration facility for continuity
planning / disaster recovery purpose.

CBT Client Application

 Features available on login page to track the status of service is on/off on local
server. On page bottom status of below things are shown

 In case LAN is disconnected then it will not cause issue in running the exam in
centre.

CBT Centre Tracking System

 Secure login for admin to access the CTS system
 System Tracking, This feature is used to track the installation of client
application in all centres
 Student Logs, This feature is used to track the activity performed by student in
his/her test i.e. start test timing, read test instruction timing, log of actions
performed while attempting the questions in test and timing when test is
submitted by student.
Setting Module
 Add a new centre executive in contact detail in system that will be visible on
local server installed in centre that will help lab assistant to contact him
directly in case of need in technical help.
 Sync Students Reponses on registration system for result processing
 Feature to upload the new release version of CBT client and server in case
there would be any last minute changes in code level of these two applications.
 Create a user and assign him centers to monitor the exam remotely from
support centre on exam day.
 Live attendance sheet within half an hour since exam is started
 Emergency Report, This report helps to track the systems are not compatible
with the minimum hardware and software prerequisite i.e. .net framework,
browser and screen resolution that require to run the test page smoothly.

3. Data Security on Network Layer

Web Security:-

 Database level : SQL injections are used at the backend i.e. at the database
level among different queries to prevent the database from being attacked
 Website Security level:
 Maximum risk chances of leakage are at the Network Layer, as this is an
intermediate for transferring the packets. SSL has been purchased for

maintain the security of the data, thus making it encrypted & safe
 Use of Access S for cross site scripting that allows to modify the content with
the help of JAVA Script. This prevents any malicious activity making the code
hard to understand.
 Security is maintained through different validations like Captcha Code &
primary keys
 Cloud based Security is implemented for the load balancing thus preventing
the site downtime in case of increased count
Data Security:-

 Rijndael Algorithm is an advanced Encryption standard which is being

used in the system for maintaining high level security
 Data is stored in different instances & at different places. So, the system
guarantees the availability of data 99.9% In case, one instance, breaks, we
can fetch the data from the other
 Handshaking: An acknowledgement is received by the system when the data
is reached at the destination The Process is maintained through VERSIONING.
Multi-factor authentication can be used to provide an additional layer of
security. If we enable Versioning with MFA Delete on content it requires two
forms of authentication to permanently delete a version of an object.
 An activity log of each candidate is recorded. We can track the
response of each click of candidates

Infra-Level Security:-

 Biometric for Student Authentication purpose. We may also map the thumb
impressions of Candidate registration time & during the exam time by
opening up the biometric authentication process at nearby centers
 CCTV surveillance at each center

QP Security:-
 Durability of QP content is 99.999999999%

 Uses a combination of Content-MD5 checksums and cyclic redundancy

checks (CRCs) to detect data corruption
