 Ethical Issue
The event I decided to cover was the Alpha Chi philanthropy event called
“Dogs for a cause.” I chose this event for the soul purpose of bringing to
light their chapters purpose of educating and raising awareness about do-
mestic violence. This is an ethical issue due to the fact that domestic vio-
lence happens more and more each year and needs to be brought to peo-
ple’s attention. Alpha Chi does a great job of bringing light to this world
wide issue and helps college students understand what it means and how
to prevent it. Domestic violence is the act of abuse or acts of violent behav-
ior within a home toward a spouse or partner. This type of behavior has
even been show on college campuses between couples. 1/5 women are a
victim of domestic violence and ½ of all homeless women and children in
the US are fleeing from domestic violence. This is an important issue to me
because I have known people that have been affected by domestic violence.

 Self Reflection
A personal reflection of this event and
project would be that i wish i didn’t wait
till the last moment to go out and find
something to write about. I got lucky that
this event was scheduled in time for me to
go and cover it before this project was due.
I am usually very on top when planning out
my projects and when everything is due
but for some reason I was very confused
at this project at first. But when I got more
information and understood it more I was
lucky enough to find an event that I could
cover and do this project over. That is one
thing i will want to get better at is doing
more research on local events and going
out to those and not relying on last mo-
ment things to happen.
At the event itself I found out pretty quick-
ly that I didn’t really know what to take
photographs of and how to properly cov-
er the event.For example I was asking my
friends what I should take pictures of be-
cause I truly had no idea what i wanted to
photograph and show in the project. I had
a really fun time capturing all the dogs be-
cause they are my favorite animal. I would
like to get better at photographing animals
especially while there is movement because
like i said previously there were tons of
dogs running around so it was hard to cap-
ture a still shot. I think one thing that I did
well was get multiple shots over everything
going on at the event that way later when
planning what pictures I wanted to use i
had plenty to choose from. One failure is
that the pictures that i did take one might
consider them too broad meaning that
they might be too basic and not enough
thought was put into them. Overall i had
a great time and got to enjoy some good
food knowing the money for the event was
going to a great cause. When I take pictures
after graduation the things I have learned
from this project and previous ones will
definitely help me when capturing photos. I
have also learned not to procrastinate and
do more research that is more than the
bare minimum.
