This study examined the relationship between residential density, room humidity, and the incidence of head lice (Pediculosis capitis) among students at an Islamic boarding school in Martapura, Indonesia. The study found that 88% of 50 students sampled tested positive for head lice. All students lived in dormitories that did not meet residential density requirements, and 64% lived in rooms that met humidity requirements. Statistical analysis found relationships between both high residential density and high room humidity with higher rates of head lice infections.

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN RESIDENTIAL DENSITY AND ROOM
HUMIDITY WITH THE INCIDENCE OF PEDICULOSIS CAPITIS
Review of Students at Darul Hijrah Islamic Boarding School Martapura

Pediculosis capitis is an infectious disease of the scalp and hair caused by
the infestation of Pediculus humanus var. capitis. The incidence and prevalence of pediculosis capitis is quite high in dense residential environments and humid rooms. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between residential density and room humidity with the incidence of Pediculosis capitis at Darul Hijrah Islamic Boarding School Martapura. The method used is analytic observational with cross sectional approach. The sample size is 50 people using proportional random sampling technique and variable analysis using Mann Whitney test. The results showed that 44 respondents (88%) were positive for Pedikulosis kapitis, 100% of respondents live in dormitories with residential densities that do not meet the requirements, 64% respondents live in dormitories with room humidity fulfilling the requirements. The statistical test results for residential density p value = 0.002 and room humidity p value = 0.009 so that it is statistically concluded that there is a relationship between residential density and room humidity with the incidence of pediculosis capitis at Darul Hijrah Islamic Boarding School Martapura.
