INTRODUCTION
This lesson plan provides a series of review exercises and activities for students at
elementary up to pre-intermediate level. These activities and exercises are created
to cover the components of grammar as well as speaking, writing, and reading skills.
This lesson plan is compiled with the assumption that students have learned all the
materials related to the given exercises so that they are deemed to have the principle
knowledge about those particular lessons.
In order to get every part of this lesson plan connected, the author brings forward a
theme namely WONDERFUL INDONESIA. The them simply talks about ten
international visitors who are participating in a student exchange in Indonesia. The
reason behind the choice of this theme is that this lesson plan is envisioned to be
used as a real lesson plan for the teaching of English in Indonesia. Presenting the
names of the famous places in Indonesia will provide students with a contextual and
real learning experience.

Activity 1
Class Survey
In this delightful worksheet activity, students complete a survey and then use the
results to construct comparative and superlative sentences.
Procedures
Each student is given a copy of the worksheet. The students answer six questions
on the worksheet and write their answers in the second column of the table. The
questions that should be answered are as follows:
How old are you?
What is the price of your mobile phone?
How tall are you?
How many languages do you speak?
What time do you usually wake up?
How far is your home from school?
Age
Height
Languages spoken
Distance to school
When they have finished, divide the students into group of six, five, or four.
Working in groups, students then interview the other members of the group using
the same questions and complete the table with their answers.
When the students have all the answers, they use the results to write three
comparative and three superlative sentences about each student in their group.
Finally, students compare their sentences and give feedback to the class on what
they found out. Examples : -- John is older than Anne.
-- John wakes
Lesson 2 up earlier than David.
-- John’s phone is more expensive than my phone.
Bali
Also known as the Land of the Gods, Bali appeals through its sheer natural beauty of
looming volcanoes and lush terraced rice fields that exude peace and serenity. Bali
enchants with its dramatic dances, colorful ceremonies, arts, crafts, luxurious beach
resorts, and exciting nightlife. And everywhere you will find intricately carved

There are thousands of gift shops in Bali. From Denpasar to Ubud, you'll find many
things you would like to bring back home. Most of the starred hotels are located near
the beach. Otherwise, they usually have their own private spots at certain beaches.
You can find them easily at popular spots like Kuta or Sanur. If you are thinking of
bringing home souvenirs, your best bet is the souvenir market in Sukowati Village,
where you may be overwhelmed by choices.
Bali’s white and clean beaches are favorite for family holidays. There are a variety of
watersports available, such as banana boats, parasailing or jet skiing, swimming or
plain sunbathing. Most well known among Bali’s beaches is Kuta. Along this stretch
are an array of hotels, restaurants, shops and cafes. In the evenings the area throbs
to the beat of disco music. For a quieter evening enjoy the beach at Jimbaran, a
popular spot to eat fresh barbecued seafood in the evenings. Sanur Beach also dotted

Activity 3
In this fun game, students will play with a game board to practice the use of the
present continuous tense.
Procedures
Divide the students into pairs, and give each pair a copy of the game board, a
dice, and a counter.
Students take it in turns to roll the dice and move their counter along the
board. When a student lands on a picture square, their partner asks them a
question about what is happening in the picture, e.g. 'What is the boy doing?'
The student answers the question by making a present continuous sentence,
e.g. 'He is reading a book'.
If the student does this successfully, they stay on the square. If the student
makes a grammar mistake or can't think of what to say, they go back to their
previous square.
The first student to reach the finish wins the game.

Danau Segara Anak is a volcanic lake formed in the caldera of Mount Rinjani on over
2,000 meters above sea level. The lake spans across an area of 11 square kilometers,
and reaches depths up to 230 meters. Danau Segara Anak is located on the west side
of Mount Rinjani in the village of Lawang Sembalun in Lombok, East Indonesia. The
mystifying blue color of the lake gives Segara Anak its name: The Small Ocean.
The treks from the Senaru Village, and through the crater to Danau Segara Anak take
two days and a night. It begins with a hike through a lush, tropical rainforest, and up
the mountain to the rim of the crater. The trek to the Senaru rim is a challenging
climb up steep terrain and high cliffs, but the exhaustion is completely paid off by the
breathtaking panoramic view of the sun setting over Mount Rinjani, Bali and the Gili
Isles on the horizon, and the dazzling blue waters of Segara Anak glistening hundreds
of meters below. The top of the crater is a popular camp site for both foreign and
domestic tourists on this journey to spend the night. It is advisable to set a morning
alarm so as not to miss the magnificence of dawn from atop Rinjani. From the crater’s
rim, it is a sharp descent of about 600 meters to Danau Segara Anak.
Parts of Segara Anak flow down a steep ravine forming one large waterfall and several
smaller ones. There are also four natural hot springs in the lake which are believed
to hold magical healing powers, and many people make the climb solely for medicinal
purposes.
In 1998, Danau Segara Anak was immortalized in paper money on the ten thousand
rupiah bill. (http://www.indonesia.travel/kr/en/destinations/bali-nusa-

Activity 4
Procedures
In this enjoyable worksheet activity, students will practice the use of past simple ‘Wh’
questions.
Procedures
Divide the students into pairs (A and B). Give the two corresponding worksheet
for student A and B.
Give the necessary time for each student to write down the past simple ‘Wh’
questions they need to fill in the missing information on their worksheet.
Sit the students back to back so that they cannot look at each other’s
worksheet.
Next, students take in turn to ask and answer the questions to find the missing
information. Once their question is answered, they put the information in the
blank spaces on their worksheet until their story is completed.
The following activity could be students retell the story using their own words.
Worsksheet A

35-second Memory
In this activity, students will play with a board game and practice the simple past
tense and make questions.
Procedures
Work in small groups of three or four. Take it in turns to throw the dice and
move along the board.
When you land on a simple past quare, you have to talk about the topic for 35
seconds without stoppping. But before you speak, the student who is goig to
take the next turn has to change the sentence in the square to a question. e.g.
‘When was the last time you went to the bank?’
If you cannot think of something, or stop before the 35 seconds are up, you
have to move back to your previous square.
The first student to reach the FINISH is the winner.

Activity 7
In 25 years
In this fascinating worksheet activity, you will be asked to make predictions about
your classmates’ lives in 25 years using the simple future form ‘will.’
Procedures
Divide the students into groups of 10. Smaller groups are also possible.
Give each student a copy of the worksheet. Allow them to read the vocabulary
and then ask them to write down their name at the top.
Students then fold the paper so that the name at the top will not be seen.
Help the students by eliciting the first topic (home). e.g You will live in a castle
because ypu are a hard worker; you will be homeless because you are lazy. Let
them be as imaginative and entertaining as possible.
Students then complete the sentence, fold the paper, and pass it to the person
on their right. This process continues until all the topics are completed.
When they have finished, they would unfold the paper and return it to the person
whose name is at the top. Those are the prediction of their lives in 25 years.
Get the studens reporting the predictions of their lives to the class, and let the
others respond or ask some follow-up questions.
Predictions for ................................ in 25 years.
