Recommended Curriculum
▪ Found in all schools
▪ Basic Ed – DepEd
▪ Higher Ed – CHED
▪ Vocational Ed – TESDA
▪ Trifocal agencies that regulate Philippine education
▪ Memo, PSGs
▪ Other International bodies like UNESCO can also recommend curricula in schools

Written Curriculum
▪ Includes documents based on the recommended curriculum
▪ Course of study, syllabi, modules, books
▪ Packet – lesson plan
▪ Recent: K to 12 for Philippine Basic Education

Taught Curriculum
▪ Implemented/ taught
▪ Putting life to the written curriculum (T & L)
▪ Teacher’s Skill (facilitating, using IMs)
▪ Depend on the teaching style of the teacher and learning style of the learner

Supported Curriculum
▪ Support materials the teacher needs to make learning and teaching meaningful
▪ Books, charts, etc
▪ Include facilities: playground, laboratory, zoo, market etc
▪ Places where authentic learning through direct experiences occur

Assessed Curriculum
▪ Curricula need to be evaluated to know if the teacher has succeeded
▪ Assessment – during/after a lesson
▪ Assessment FOR learning
▪ Find the progress of learning
▪ Assessment OF learning
▪ Find out how much has been learned/ mastered
Learned Curriculum
▪ Changed behavior = learning
▪ Positive outcome of teaching = learning
▪ Measured by tools in assessment = CPA outcomes
▪ HOTS and lifelong skills

Hidden/ Implicit Curriculum


▪ Not deliberately planned but has great impact
▪ Peer influence, school environment, cultural practice, natural calamities, media etc are
some factors of H/I C.
▪ Teachers must be sensitive of this curriculum
▪ Include in the written curriculum to bring out what’s hidden

Conclude
▪ Not all are present at one time in a class
▪ Deliberately planned: recommended, written, taught, supported, assessed and learned
curricula
▪ Implied: hidden curricula
▪ Role of the teacher
