CASA DELAWARE MONTHLY NEWSLETTER

May 2019

Happy May!

As we close April's Child Abuse Prevention Month I would like to take this opportunity to
thank all of you for your dedication and commitment to the children we serve. The work
that you all do impacts a child's life in so many ways and your efforts will last for
generations. Child abuse prevention and awareness continues all year round for us.
Thank you for continued advocacy helping children and families find safe, permanent
and thriving futures.

As you are aware CASA Delaware has received a National CASA grant to develop a
strategic framework to bring a strong and clear mission to CASA Delaware that will
enable us to grow our program. This includes development of a strategic growth plan for
recruitment, retention and training of CASA volunteers. We are working with Susan
Decker, a Senior Governance Consultant for BoardSource (who works with National
CASA regularly) to facilitate a strategic planning retreat with members of our staff and
other stakeholders. We recently sent out a Delaware Strategic Framework survey to all
of our CASAs for your valued input. Thank you all who completed the survey. This
information is crucial in understanding our strengths and obstacles for growth.

As I mentioned last month, the National CASA Conference will be held this year in
Atlanta, GA from June 1st-June 4th. If you are interested in attending, please click here:
The National CASA 2019 Conference.

KIDS COUNT Delaware 2019 Fact Book provides an overview of child well-being in the
state and reports on select indicators across the four categories of health, education,
economic security and family/community in relation to this year's data and policy focus.
Please take a moment to look at this data and how it relates to the children we serve.

Thank you all who have been submitting their monthly hours and court reports. We
appreciate your continued support and making sure these are submitted on time.

I hope everyone has a great May. As always, thank you for your time and dedicated
efforts in advocating for Delaware's children!

Sincerely,

Melissa
