2. Nowadays, new technologies are not only being developed by first world countries, but
also developing nations are working hard to research and innovate in order to be
competitive in a crowded global market. Therefore, there are intellectual property
procedures that have been established to guarantee the rights of invention, that everyone
should know.

Faced with this situation, the next problem will be discussed and analyzed throughout the
course:

"How can the protection of new technologies play an important role, hindering or
promoting the development and eradication of poverty in underdeveloped countries?"

2.1. What are the risks that a company faces when developing a new technology?

The most common mistake is to think that innovation is only associated with high-tech

2.7. What is the Inventor Assistance Program (IAP)?

The Inventor Assistance Program (PAI), an initiative of WIPO in cooperation with the
World Economic Forum, is the first global program of its kind. It links inventors and small
companies with scarce financial resources from developing countries with patent attorneys
who are willing to provide their legal aid services free of charge to obtain patent protection.
