INTRODUCTION

1.1 BACKGROUND OF STUDY

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of strenuous exercises on

resting heart rate. The role of the heart is to pump the blood around our body. Within the
blood is oxygen and nutrients that are needed to produce energy. However, when the
activity is more intense it needs more energy. To get energy at high rate, it needs more
oxygen and nutrients, to pump blood around the body faster. The body does this by
increasing heart rate. Different groups of humans have its own level of heart rate. The
analogy is, if a child doing an intense activity it may be course the increasing of heart rate
but it is not the same with an adult when they are doing the same activity as the children’s
do. Heart rate can be measured by setting up the difference level of activity which can be
divided into some group which is rest, anticipation and intense. Then, the pulse rate was
taken after all the sample have done the activities that is required for the statistical data.
Gender also give an impact to the quality of activity which may be course the heart rate
of the sample. If the sample are boys, they have the capabilities to perform the activity
including rest, anticipation and intense very well. While girls it will give an impact to the
intense activities which need more energy to pump blood to the entire body that give the
different result of heart rate.

In this study, the focus of the experiment will be on the effect of heart rate on the
different type of activity. So, the sample that have been chosen is children which the age
is between 5-9 years old and the gender is totally random.
