COMPARATIVE STUDY OF OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH (OSH)

BETWEEN DEVELOPING AND DEVELOPED COUNTRY

ABSTRACT
In developing country, implementations of occupational safety and health (OSH) have not
been applied completely. The lack of work safety results in occupational diseases and injuries
because workers are generally uneducated or semi educated about OSH. Otherwise, OSH
condition in developed country is better, such as in USA. It has strategy for OSH
development which recommends ways to reduce hazards, prevent work-related illness and
assess exposure also employee health. This paper will focus on the increasing knowledge of
comparison of OSH between developing and developed country through reviewing of
published research data. The analytical results new strategies which seek to eliminate both the
cause of work related injury and illness. A basic safety-control system, emphasizing the
establishment of a safety committee, need to be developed to control project safety. This
system may be universally applicable to both developed and developing regions. Hence, it is
essential to understand comparison of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) between
developing and developed country. Such knowledge can be applied and adopted by
developing country to optimize occupational safety and health practices.
