Throughout high school I have evolved in my reading and writing.

Some ways I gotten

better is I have not needed as much assistance writing my papers, I used to have to sit down with

a teacher and tell them my ideas and they had to help me word my whole essay, but now I can

write a whole essay with barely any help.

The first sample I chose was an essay I wrote for my English 12 class about a book we

read. The essay is about a life lesson the story taught me. I explain that people live life like they

always have a tomorrow but not everyone has tomorrow. This essay shows how I feel about

living everyday like it’s your last. I put a lot of emotions into this essay and I feel it really shows

who i am as a person.

My next writing sample is an annotated bibliography. This was written as a research

paper for a speech I was presenting. My speech was about taking a trip to Hawaii and writing

this paper really helped me understand Hawaii and the different opportunities it brought for

tourists. I even included some history, government, and local news in this paper so I could better

understand what was going on in Hawaii and how it was shaped to become the great tourist place

it is today.

My third essay was my speech outline for my speech. It helped me lay out on paper and

to help me prepare how I was going to give my speech. I also used this outline to keep my on

track during my speech. There were some hard Hawaiian words that my moutline helped me

remember.

My fourth essay was also for my English 12 class. In class we had projects where we had

to pick a public policy issue and research it. My public policy was about trigger warning and safe

spaces in classrooms. This was a hard policy to research because it was not the most popular
issue but I liked the challenge. This paper explains my issue and how it is being dealt with, I also

talk about what some colleges are doing to support people that have gone through traumatic

experiences.

My last essay is an essay I wrote for my American History class. This essay was about

WW1 and gave a brief explanation about what happen during this time. It talks about what the

United states went through during the war but it also talked about what the people of the United

states went through at home and abroad.

I feel that these essays really showed my personality and who I am as a writer. I am not

the best writer but I feel like I do a good job at expressing myself through my writing. I also feel

like this year I have really improved with my writing.
