CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION

Background of the Study

We all know that there is gender equality amongst men and women when it comes
to decision making and opportunities, regardless of your gender you are not being
judged by the other people. But what if we discuss about the third gender equality?
The concept of equality about third gender is somewhat relatively a new phenomenon.

Members of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) are born with

natural talents and reality speaking, they are the more versatile in all aspect of life.
Creativity, public relations, professionalism, optimism, innovation, hardworking,
determination, perseverance, flexibility these are some of the qualities of which
welcome all genders /diversity of life in any kind of industry including SE (Schneider
Electric Company). With all the humility these qualities are all possessed by most of
members of the LGBT(Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) community. We all know
that discrimination in this type of gender identity is changing drastically with positive
result. Though SE is an all men – all women industry, the entry of our members in this
field has made such a great impact and positive results wherein other exclusive
industries have made their significant adjustments. With regards to work industries ,
members of LGBT(Lesbian , Gay , Bisexual , Transgender) strive hard to be employed
not just for themselves but for their family. They are the people with the biggest
members of the family because they do not just focus with their parents and siblings
but also with their hierarchies. They are naturally embedded with good family values
and survive life struggles with the help of perseverance , passion , dedication , and
God – fearing qualities.
I am the person with a big respect in professionalism , equality , respect and
discrimination-free mentality. Reality check , I think the most successful people in this
industry are members of LGBT(Lesbian , Gay , Bisexual , Transgender) since they are
survivors and fighters with a love of God and family. They put great value in their work
, balance everything, handle strees and problems with positive outlook in life and most
of all, set all priorites and other task systematically. Now , I am so grateful that our
government and the rest of the world has welcomed diversity in any industry and I so
thankful that God has paved way for this favorable and justifiable changes. We keep
spreading love and good deeds to everyone so one day they can reciprocate what we
have seeded.

Theoretical Framework

The modern workplace consists of diverse cultures, gender, age, race and even
socioeconomic status. This different work environment gives opportunities for
employers to create and promote organizational strategies that value and manage
diversity while limiting barriers and one-sidedness. This will address the question of
how to best manage workplace diversity, how diversity affects workplace learning, and
the role of organizational leaders and managers in creating and supporting successful
diversity initiatives. Using concepts of adult education and workplace learning, this will
analyze benefits and opportunities of diversity in the workplace, strategies for creating
inclusive environments, and the best practices for educating and managing the diverse
workforce. This analysis will include an examination of Schneider Electric Company
Cavite 3 Philippines best diversity employers as examples of successful diversity
initiatives and ideas for incorporating best practices. By analyzing economic,
sociological, managerial, and educational perspectives, this will integrate how diversity
affects our world of work, and how to best manage diversity in that world.’(Jennifer
Gossen)

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered people continue to experience

various forms of oppression and discrimination throughout the world.: “All anybody is
trying to do is to live their lives and be given by the service, be treated with respect as
anyone else is treated. all we want is equality “(Petra October 4, 2017). Despite the
social, legal and political advances that been launched to grant LGBT people basic
human rights. “There is no substitute for being explicity listed in the law. i also think that
its very powerful statement to see that it is the law of the land that discrimination against
individuals because of their sexual orientation or gender identity is wrong and illegal”
(Ian Thompson 2015). Eventhough LGBT people and communities have been actively
engaged in community and organization the issue was still there.
