Brief Musical Description 

 
GENRES OF MUSIC I HAVE PLAYED 

Jazz- 4 years 
I started jazz in my 7th grade year. From there I have studied different 
styles of jazz such as New orleans, Swing, Big Band, Bebop, Hard Bop, 
Straight-Ahead and so forth. I have spent countless hours studying the 
language of bebop and studying musical heroes such as Charlie Parker, 
Clifford Brown, and countless others 
 

Classical- 5 years 
I started playing saxophone in 6th grade and started out with classical 
training. Through this i discovered many composers such as Debussy, 
Stravinsky, Brahms, Roger Boutry and so forth.  
 

Polka- 2 years 
I joined a school Polka and German folk music band. We went on to go to 
competitions and win several awards as a middle school ensemble 
 

Klezmer- 1 year 
I took up clarinet in 7th grade and waited till 8th grade to start playing it 
in a musical environment. Klezmer music has brought out the aspect of 
staying true to melodies and ad libbing it to make musical contrast.
