QUEUE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM OF COMPUTER SHOPS

CHAPTER I

THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

Introduction

In the business world, more clients mean more business transactions, and this cause

difficulties of lengthy queues. The improper management of such queues will cause tension and

stress among customers. Customers will probably shift to other companies that provides better

sevices. Queuing theory can be defined as delay problems and situations in daily lives. However,

queuing is the name given to more technical kind of delay (Bhat, 2008).

In general, a queue is a line of people waiting to be serve and the movement is from a

central to a specific place. Bylayat, Nahid, Moqbull, and Habibur (2011) had designed a

Microcontroller Based Electronic Queue Control Systems. The aim of that designed system is to

maintain a queue with order and efficiency. “Queuing models provide the analyst with powerful

tools for designing and evaluating the performance of queuing” (Nafees, 2007). This theory helps

the owners of different organizations analyze the percent at which, customers wait for their

services to be given to them and improve the percentage of services in this manner (Gross, Shortle,

Thompson & Harris, 2008).

Queues are very common in computer systems. Computer systems interact with one

another to answer different queries related to the inquiries of the queue (Allen, 1977). In computer

systems, queuing system helps in calculating the service facilities with one and more than one

servers. Queuing system minimizes the time that customers have to waste in waiting and utilizing

their resources and servers. Once a particular customer is served in the queuing system, he leaves.
If service centers are busy then customer directly goes into the waiting system of computers (Inria,

2004). Queue Management System will provide better service to the customers and will surely

give satisfaction to every individual.

Statement of the Problem


The general problem of this study is business transactions of computer shops. The

researchers come up with this study to organized the growing population of customers.

Significance of the Study

The result of the study will add new aspect in getting rid of problems of the most industries,

not only in the places nearby but also in different places globally.

Customer – the result will make them wait comfortably instead of standing in long queues. This

not only helps in comforting customers, but also reduces any sense of insecurity among customers

that their turn might be taken by someone else.

Business Owner – this result will help them improve their service efficiency, and will also

improve their sales impulse because of the queue system the said computer shop is engaging.

Scope and Delimitation

The research will be conducted in selected several computer shops around Matungao,

Bulakan, Bulacan. The respondents of this study will be both the clients and the owner of the said
shops. The researchers have chosen this respondents in belief that this study will be more

convenient to both of them.
