My Prideful Accomplishment
Throughout my education career, I have accomplished many things that I take much pride
in. Many of those things are milestones but one important one to me that I never really spoke of
was always being the center flyer on my cheer teams. I started cheerleading in 6th grade, ever
since then I have continued to cheer until my senior year of high school. With 7 years of
experience in cheering and being a flyer, I knew a lot of skills and techniques. I was always a
flyer because of my size. I was short and light, it made it easier for my peers to lift me up. As I
grew up, I realized that being apart of a team was an amazing experience. I made new friends
that I would never have met if I didn’t join cheer. I was able to learn many skills not only
involving the sport but also skills that would greatly benefit my own character. Cheerleading has
Through all my years of cheerleading, I was the center flyer in almost every routine we
performed. My coaches were always there to help me become better, and thanks to them I was
the best. I learned quickly and efficiently and was able to apply both the positive and negative
feedback I got. Learning so many new skills and memorizing so many things did get me
frustrated at times, but it made me work harder to become even better. I was always eager to be
the best at what I did. I loved to see people smiling when I was performing, it motivated me.

When I started cheering in high school I had more people to help teach me. I witnessed a new
world of cheerleading. My skills as a flyer were amazing. I never was able to speak good of
myself because I thought it was rude and not very humble. M teammates and coaches always
spoke so highly of me that I believed I was good. I was loved so much by them, it made me feel
good.
Being the center flyer in almost every routine was a great accomplishment for me. It
showed that I worked hard and had the skills and ability to pull off such amazing things. It was
always a scary process of trying so many new and uncertain things. I used to be scared and timid
to try new things but I knew that it would help me and my team. The center flyer does things that
others can’t necessarily do, so knowing that I was able to keep that position for so many years
made me happy. After a while, I was tired of being the center flyer and having to do everything. I
started to get lazy and too confident to the point where I did not put in much effort anymore.
However, this allowed me to teach the other flyers and help them gain more skills. As the senior
and center flyer on the cheer team, many of the younger girls asked me for advice. I actually
loved to teach them because it meant that they looked up to me. So many people believed in me!
After I fell into that slump, I wasn’t the same anymore. Cheerleading became annoying and
stressful for me and my teammates felt the same way. Things changed as we got older and school
became more important to us. Cheerleading has brought many positive and negative things into
my life but I do not regret anything at all. All that I’ve been through has shaped me into a truly
better person. I fought and was determined to stay in something. I was able to learn, teach, and
lead my peers. So many of the things I learned because of cheerleading, I can now apply them to

my everyday life.
