History of Barangay Osmeña Pitogo Quezon

INTRODUCTION

The municipality of Pitogo Quezon Province is

composed of 39 barangay, which Pitogo Quezon is a coastal
municipality in the province of Quezon. Pitogo was geographically located in the southeastern
part of Bondoc Peninsula. One of 39 barangay of Pitogo is barangay Osmeña. Osmeña is a small
barrio which almost have 500 indibiduals of residents. This barangay was formed as small barrio
composed of 4 Sitio; the Sitio Bundok, Sitio Tulay, Sitio Ibaba, and Sitio Ilaya. The location of
this barangay is at the midst of two Municipalities of Unisan and Gumaca Quezon. Osmeña is
one of peacefully and progressive barangay in Munipality of Pitogo Quezon because of its own
system of economic growth and livelihood technique that Sangguniang Barangay developed. The
barangay was modified by the present Sangguniang Barangay in precedence of Captain Teresita
and its members. Barangay Osmeña is not ultimately a small barrio but this barangay have a
virtual traits to be productive barangay at all times.
LOCATION MAP

The shown map was the phase of barangay Osmeña Pitogo Quezon. This barangay is
situated at approximately 13.8320,122,0787, in the island of Luzon. Elevation of these
coordinates is estimated at 12.8 meters or 42.0 feet above mean sea level. This barangay has no
specification of measurement of land area but presume as almost above 100 hectares land area
include agriculture.
HISTORY

Brgy. Osmeña was one of 39

barangay in the municipality of
Pitogo Quezon. Osmeña was
bound at the midst of Gumaca
and Unisan Quezon, before of its
creation into barangay. Most of
economic livelihood is farming.

Due 1950 there was have five

families who formed Brgy.
Osmeña initiated by the captain
which they called Tenyente del
barrio. The Cantuna, Villapando,
Orate, Castillo and Andaywas
the originated families who
produce the barangay. These
people build their own customs
and they decided to have a leader
who will lead their small barrio. The Tenyente del barrio stated the name of their barrio and it
would be called Barangay Osmeña. Behalf of having the name of their barrio as barangay
Osmeña but it was not certainly known as it is the barangay Osmeña because the true Osmeña is
located at the Lalao, however the Tenyente still stand in their ruling to call their barrio as
barangay Osmeña.

When the
declaration has been
made by the Tenyente
del barrio and became
formalized barangay
subdued of Pitogo
Quezon. Brgy.Osmeña
begins to have a
formal regims which
the first Tenyente del
barrio in the persona of Ceasario Villapando, and secondly Flora Inhente, the third is Hilario
Ramirez, next to him is captain Degoy Arrogancia but Tenyente Degoy got passed away in his
one year governance but he was substituted by his first member named Wilfredo Alidio, and
today the captain who passionately made the Brgy. Osmeña preserved in the persona of Teresita
Redublo together with her fellows. From the day Osmeña was developed of first five families
until the residents in the barangay has been increasing the barrio was preserved, nowadays that it
is more progressive because of compassion of the Tenyente del barrio today and her members.

The first structure build of previous Tenyente del barrio is the Bahay Nayon and the first
Catholic Church where it was build on April 5,1997. And today which Captain TeresitaRedublo
together with her members were they developed the evacuation center, basketball court, and the
playground in her 9 years of incumbency.

Tenyente Del Barrio Flora

Inhente House

One of historical places in Brgy.

Osmeña is the oldest house of second tenyente del barrio Flora Inhente.This house was
developed year of January 19, 1959.
The house was preserved for almost
60 years. This house of tenyente del
barrio have a strong foundation and it
was made by the wood of narra. And
as today the house still preserved by
the owner which is the daughter of
tenyente del barrio Flora Inhente
named Vergie Orate.
Catholic Church

The old church is

the first structure that built
and developed due 1960 in
Brgy, Osmeña held by
tenyente del barrio
Ceasario Villapando. The
church was longing for
almost 5 decades
according to Lola Saria.

San Antio De Padua

The patron saint of

their church is San Antonio
De Padua, where the fiest
was celebrate every 13 of
June. The church became
historical because for
almost 50 years it was kept,
and many christian of
osmeñahins has been took a
lot of memories in that
church. The church was
rebuilt on october 12, 2011
held by captain Teresita
Redoblo. Barangay Osmeña
became known in the near
municipalities because of how
the people significant their place.
POPULATION

Osmeña is a barangay in the

municipality of Pitogo, in the province of
Quezon. Its population as determined by
the 2015 Census was 370. This
represented 1.61% of the total population
of Pitogo. ccording to the 2015 Census,
the age group with the highest population
in Osmeña is 1 to 4, with 43 individuals.
Conversely, the age group with the
lowest population is 80 and over, with 3
individuals. Combining age groups
together, those aged 19 and below,
consisting of the infants/babies, children
and adolescents/teenagers, make up an
aggregate of 45.95% (170). Those aged
20 up to 59, roughly, the adult population
and actual or potential members of the
work force, constitute a total of 44.86%
(166). Finally, the senior citizens, those
aged 60 and over, total 9.19% (34) in all.
The population of Osmeña grew from 75
in 1990 to 370 in 2015, an increase of
295 people. The latest census figures in
2015 denote a positive growth rate of
12.53%, or an increase of 171 people, from the previous population of 199 in 2010. And today's
population of Osmeña has almost 500 above indibiduals resident.The number of children which
almost 100 above and adult was 400 above together the senior citizens were the senior composed
of 37 persons . The residence has been increasing for the few years.
 Placida Labaguez -The Oldest Netizen

The oldest senior of Osmeña who aged 84 years old is named Placida Labaguez or they
called them Lola Edang. Lola Edang was born on October 11 1934 in Brgy, Casasahan Ilaya
Gumaca Quezon. She was grown in Casasahan laya with her father and her siblings. The time
she grown up she is the only one who help their family because she was the eldest.Her life was
so hard when she was young because she and her family was abandoned by her mother but when
the time she grown and she met her husband named ArtoroLabaguez her life became well. And
she got 5 kids. When she was 43 years old they moved in Lucena City and live for almost a years
until her children had their own families. The time she moved in Barangay Osmeña, her husband
decided to go back in their province in Generaluna but Lola Edang's daughther name Lerma
Labaguez was brought a estate in Brgy, Osmeña. Lola Edang's daughter convinced her to live in
Brgy, Osmeña and that is why they moved year of 2002 together her grandchild and her
husbandand she's been stay for almost 17 years.
SOCIO-CULTURAL-RELIGION

Beliefs

Many Filipinos still cling to the traditional practices, beliefs and traditions. They are still
strongly rooted to the superstitious beliefs that they believe could help them deal with day to day
occurrences and events. And many old osmeñahin’s belief in this superstitious and they always
remind the youngs to believe. One of this superstitious is the bride should never try on the
wedding dress. It is believed that if the bride tries on the wedding dress before the wedding takes
place, the wedding will not pursue or something negative will occur. And also a single woman
who sings while cooking will marry a widower which means that single women are often
advised not to sing while cooking because they will marry a widower.

Religion

Residence of Osmeña which

composed of 3 religions; the
Catholic, Baptist, and Iglesia Ni
Cristo. The original and first religion
in barangay was the Catholic
founded year of 1960, the second
religion was developed in year of
2005 held by the Alidio family, and the
last religion is the INC , this religious family came from Albay Bicol and
few Osmeñahins family got converted and their church located in Brgy,
Tubas Unisan Quezon.These religious group have their own customs and
participations in their own society, and have a good relations when it comes their own beliefs
and they respect each other. The religion
became a unity to serve the barangay because
each of them always participated when it comes
having events and celebrations in the barangay
Water-pot

The oldest jar in Brgy, Osmeña that

preserved by the children of Tenyente Del Barrio
Flora Inhente. This water-pot was preserved for
almost 60 years. This jar has been damaged year
of 2010 by cracked itself but immediately made
it up.

Sewing

This sewing is owned by Lola Saria Redoblo.

She kept this for almost 30 years. This sewing
was brought year of 1989 in the municipality of
Gumaca Quezon, it was gift by her daughter to
her when she was 42 years old. Lola Saria loves
tailoring when she was young and she became
dressmaker in her youth times.
VIII.PROFILE

Agriculture

Osmeña Pitogo Quezon is

rich in agricultural
livelihood. The residence of
Osmeña have an alliance
when it comes performing
livelihood. The development
of high participation of
farmers in doing agricultural
is came from the programs of
different association whom
preferred the growth of livelihood program in agricultural for the farmers. Farmer of Osmeñahin
are very diligent in
doing their farming
such as forestation,
hauling, making
charcoal, and copra.
Farming is the
primarily source of
income of the farmers. Agriculture is the life of every
farmers of Osmeñahin because from the first day they
became how to learn to get and put the rice in their mouth, they're taught to get their own food to
do farming. The livelihood arise the life of
every famers because Osmeña is one of the
source of agriculture that Quezon Province
has taken from to bring out it all over the
Philippines.
IX. PRESENT CONDITION

Osmeña develops a lot when it comes in livelihood and infrastructure where it was
implemented by the Sangguniang Barangay together with the participation of individuals.
Osmeña became productive barangay because of new and strong incumbency Sanggunian
Barangay that established with the help of different association.

Evacuation Center

Evacuation Center is donated by the DSWD and KALAHI-CIDSS programs with the
theme of " Kaya natin ang pagbabago kapag magkakapit-bisig tayo" located at Sitio Bundok
Brgy. Osmeña Pitogo Quezon. The total is ₱1,761,895,00 and should built within 145 days, the
start date was June 13, 2016
and ended on December 1, 2016.
New Catholic Church

The oldest church

was rebuilt date of October
12, 2011. This is now the
present style of old church.
Church of Osmeña preserved
for almost 50 years likewise
in new church that able to be
developed by the
Sangguniang Barangay.

Multi-purpose

Multi-purpose is
donated by Tan family
and founded on April 9,
2006. This establishment
was the second structure
that constructed in the
barangay. Multi-purpose
is served as the office and
the meeting place of
barangay officials.
Basketball Court

This place is served as the field of the game for the players of basketball. Basketball court has
been developed by the first SK of barangay named Judelyn De Leon, year of 2009. The court
also used for the big events purposes such birthday celebration, baptismal party and the big
celebration of barangay the fiesta celebration.

Playground

Playground was
created for the recreational of
the children. Project of
Sangguniang kabataan held by
Realyn Castillo Cayetano the
present SK of the barangay.
X. INFRATRUCTURES

The structured of past houses of Brgy.Osmeña

is made by the wood and palm tree, but
nowadays its made by concrete of cements
and metals. It shown that the structure has
been improved when the times goes. The
ways of living are also changed because of
continuous developments to make the life
easy. Sangguniang barangay produce a lot of
developments in barangay such have a garden
area and provide own garage. Some Osmeñahins built their own sari-sari store as an additional
source of income. Residence of Brgy. Osmeña have
a weekly cleaning for the cleanliness of
barangay and monthly free consultation from the
health care association from the municipality of
Pitogo Quezon. The growth of Brgy.Osmeña is
being radically grown from the day the new
officials of
barangay
got selected
and because of the unity of the people that is why the
barangay became successful and productive.
XI. PROMOTION

Barangay Osmeña Pitogo is a small

barrio of Municipality of Pitogo
Quezon. This is the overwhelmed
barrio in province of Quezon that has
its own singularity of preservation of
legacy and decent dominion of people.
Osmeña is not just a barangay or small barrio but it is the home of every Osmeñahins that they
kept in their hearts. This barangay shown its own uniqueness of living and how people always
have united at all times. Always longing for the respect and built relationships to others. A
barangay that who welcomed you not a visitor or a neighbor but a family. Osmeñahins that
always willing to adapt and to learn. Things that people wants to visit is kind of the place that
you can find a real home and family and experienced of
what its like. Live your life with full of goodness and
love for you and for others, served your country and
your fellow. Brgy.Osmeña Pitogo Quezon is the barrio
of everyone home.
