The hamstrings and quadriceps are two major muscle
groups used for walking. There are four quadricep Imbalance between muscles located in the front of the thigh and help extend the Hamstrings and the knee forward and flex the hip. There are three hamstring muscles, which are the antagonist to the Quadriceps quadriceps, in the back of the thigh that extend the hip and flex the knee. Both muscle groups work together to make the body walk with their effects on the knee. Both muscle groups are also connected to the pelvis. Muscle imbalance occurs when a group of muscles are significantly stronger and more developed than another group. My research examines the effects of the muscle imbalance between the hamstrings and quadriceps on the lumbar spine (the lower part of the spine).
