Flow of presentation:

Introduction:
Recently attention has been placed on the fact that the school has not had any drills and
individuals are no aware or guided as to what procedures should take place during any
unforeseen events. Therefore, the purpose of this meeting is to inform and enforce safety
protocols to keep staff and students safe.
 Begin with safety and emergency plan document
 Mention important definitions
 Discuss importance of a school having safety procedures and emergency protocols in
the event of any threats or adverse events for safety of staff and students.

Five key strategy areas:


 Training school administrators, teachers, and support staff (school resource officers
and security officers, secretaries, custodians, bus drivers, etc.) on school violence
prevention, school security, school threat assessment, and school emergency
planning best practices
 Evaluating and refining school security measures
 Updating and exercising school emergency preparedness plans
 Strengthening partnerships with public safety officials
 Creating enhanced crisis communications plans and social media strategies

Team organization
Teams are organized to mobilize staff to take up roles in the event of any threats etc.
 Discuss roles of each team.
 Mention teams have been organized and the list is on the bulletin board however
not all staff is on a team.
 List members of each team. **
 On the circulated document in the emails, under evacuation, the left to the right is
the team responsible for education.
 Each member of staff should be on a team and therefore if anyone isn't on one,
please write your name on the board under the given headings.

Evacuation
Evacuation procedure will be discussed form school evacuation procedures document
This will first highlight what should be present in the staff room during an evacuation.
It will then mention the evacuation routes which should be taken by the following sections
of the school as well as their respective meet up points.
 Elec room/woods room/F&N room/ 5R1 Class
 Library
 Bursar/Resource room
 Form 1 Block
 Science lab
 Staffroom 1
 Form 2 Block
 Form 3 Block/TD Labs/Music Room
 Form 4/Form 5 Blocks
Take note that it is primitive that teachers carry with them a class register

Emergency Protocol
School Emergency Protocols and Guidelines document will then be addressed

Sensitization plans:
Educate staff on evacuation and emergency plan
Staff will sensitize students
A special assembly on school safety will be held with a specially invited guest from the
ministry
First drill will be held on ___ without the involvement of the canteen staff.
This drill will include the signal of fire from a smoke bomb and the involvement of the fire
department whereby they will assess the drill.
