Brian Epstein discovered The Beatles in 1961 at Liverpool's Cavern Club, where they were performing
on a regular basis. In 1964, The Beatles became the first British band to break out big in the United
States. Lennon left the Beatles in September 1969, just after the group completed recording Abbey
Road. In 1975, Yoko Ono gave birth to their son named Sean, on Lennon's 35th birthday (October
9, 1975). Shortly thereafter, Lennon decided to leave the music business to focus on being a father
and husband. On December 8, 1980, a crazed fan named Mark David Chapman killed John Lennon.
He continues to be admired by new generations of fans. Lennon was posthumously inducted into the Songwriters Hall of
Fame in 1987, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.

LESSON 32 – TEST 2
Language in use (gramática e vocabulário) = 10 pontos
Comunicative writing (produção escrita) = 10 pontos / Total = 40 pontos*
por muito tempo um único objetivo, pois às vezes não sobra tempo para outros;
Lembre-se que há sugestões de atividades no seu STUDENT’S GUIDE que podem ser feitas no livro ou no e-Campus;
onde você pode enviar uma mensagem com suas dúvidas;
ainda pratique os diálogos em voz alta;
Have a nice test!

Lesson 12
Activity 1
John Lennon was born on October 9, 1940, in Liverpool, England. When he was 4 years old, Lennon's parents separated
and he ended up living with his Aunt Mimi. Lennon's father was a merchant seaman. Lennon's mother, Julia, taught
Lennon how to play the banjo and the piano and purchased his first guitar.
Brian Epstein discovered The Beatles in 1961 at Liverpool's Cavern Club, where they were performing on a regular basis.
In 1964, The Beatles became the first British band to break out big in the United States. Lennon left the Beatles in
September 1969, just after the group completed recording Abbey Road. In 1975, Yoko Ono gave birth to their son named
Sean, on Lennon's 35th birthday (October 9, 1975). Shortly thereafter, Lennon decided to leave the music business to
focus on being a father and husband. On December 8, 1980, a crazed fan named Mark David Chapman killed John
Lennon.
He continues to be admired by new generations of fans. Lennon was posthumously inducted into the Songwriters Hall of
Fame in 1987, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.

Dear Thiago,
I really liked studying with you and my classmates. They’re nice and fun. I liked the lessons, especially the
lesson about ‘talking about our abilities’. I studied lots of grammar exercises, but I didn’t practise my listening
skills much. I didn’t do many exercises on e-Campus either. I focused on the exercises from the book and on
reading books at home.
Next holidays I’m going to do lots of listening exercises. I plan to watch films and listen to music every day. My
family and I are going to travel to the US, so I’m going to speak a lot in English. We’re going to have a good
