IIT Jammu invites applications from motivated candidates for admission to full-time Ph.D.
program commencing from July 2019 in the following areas:
Chemistry, Civil Engineering, Computer Science & Engg., Electrical Engg., Humanities
and Social Sciences, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics and
Interdisciplinary research areas.

This is a year-round Ph.D. admission program offer by IIT Jammu. Only the applications
received through IIT Jammu online portal shall be given consideration. Shortlisted candidates
will be called for test/interview. Selected candidates shall be enrolled to the coming semester
course-work.

Defined Networks
Electrical Engineering: Image Video Processing, Antennas, Physical Layer Security, Ferrite
Microwave Components, Speech Enhancement & Recognition, Power Systems
Mechanical Engineering: Experimental/Computational Thermal & Fluid Sciences,
Manufacturing and Surface Engineering, Atmospheric Fluid Dynamics, Tribology
Chemistry: Asymmetric Synthesis, Catalysis, Organometallics, Bio-inorganic, Computational
and Theoretical Chemistry
Civil Engineering: Geo-technical and Geo-environmental Engineering
Mathematics: Cryptography, Finite Fields, PDEs & Numerics, Topology
Physics: Electrochemical Energy Storage, Solar Cells, Strongly Coupled Plasmas
English (HSS): Literary Theory and Praxis, Comparative Literature, Emerging Fields and
Culture Studies
Interdisciplinary: Institute encourages interdisciplinary research in the above topics

Eligibility criteria:
M.Sc. in Chemistry/Mathematics/Physics or B.Tech./M.Tech. /M.Sc.(Engg.) in
Engineering disciplines with minimum first division or equivalent CGPA. For HSS M.A. in
English with minimum 55% number or equivalent CGPA.
Admission to Ph.D. program in Chemistry/Mathematics/Physics/HSS requires CSIR/UGC
NET, GATE, DST INSPIRE, NBHM qualification.
For Engineering discipline, GATE qualification is desirable for M.Tech. degree holders, and
essential for B.Tech. degree holders with exceptional academic credentials.
*Minimum eligibility criteria do not guarantee shortlisting for the test/interview for Ph.D.
admissions.
*Shortlisted candidates will be intimated by email and the list of the shortlisted candidates will
be put up on the Institute website.
