Dear Contestant:

Welcome to the Miss Tooele City Program. I applaud your interest in competing to become
Miss Tooele City and believe that you will find your experience to be fulfilling and worthwhile.
You will gain skills and experiences that will carry through your lifetime.

 This year’s pageant will be on Monday, June 29th


 Talent and dress rehearsals are June 26th and 27th
 There is NO swimsuit or physical fitness competition
 Contestants age 16 -24 on the date of the pageant can enter
 Scheduling commitments allow you to continue with educational goals

Miss Tooele City and two (2) Co-Attendants will be selected during a community production
showcasing our contestants and other members of our community. Competition events include:

 Responsibility 10% - (Meeting deadlines and attendance at pre-pageant events)


 Interview 25%
 On-stage Communications in Patriotic Wear 20% - (Choose and honor an individual
based on the annual theme and speaking about that person on stage)
 Talent 20% - (Many talent options will be allowed giving all an opportunity to compete)
 Evening Wear 15%
 Overall Impression 10%

We are proud to offer the following scholarships and awards:

 $2,000 Scholarship to Miss Tooele City that can be used for both high school
academic and college expenses
 $1,000 to Each Co-Attendant that can be used for both high school academic
and college expenses
 Rookie Recognition Award will be given to the top scoring contestant who has
not competed in a pageant since age 16 – excellent opportunity to recognize
young women who are new to this type of a program
 Spirit of Tooele City
 More to be announced

Enclosed with this welcome letter is a list of important Dates to Remember. Review it carefully
and ensure you meet all deadlines.
We are seeking a diverse group of contestants. You have something special to offer. We believe
that beauty takes many forms and that each and every young woman in our community possesses
her own uniqueness. We are looking for an ambassador, a young woman who:

 Is mature, responsible, dependable, and able to meet a demanding schedule during


our 4th of July celebration;
 Exhibits patriotism, community pride, energy, excitement, and love for the people
of Tooele City;
 Is positive, professional, fun, outgoing, approachable, has charm, is poised, and
able to put a smile on other’s faces;
 Is able to meet the public and comfortable mingling with others in our diverse
community;
 Is able to speak extemporaneously;
 Is an intelligent person who understands patriotism, community, and civic
responsibility;
 A young woman who is proud of Tooele City and eager to promote her
community as a great place to work, play, and live;
 Is cooperative and will work with the Pageant and Tooele City for the good of the
Program even if she has personal obstacles; and,
 Is a good role model and an inspiration to youth in our community

The entry deadline is 12:00 p.m. on June 2, 2014! You can find our Contestant Contract and
other important information online at www.tooelecity.org, click on Our Community and then on
Miss Tooele City. The Contestant Contract outlines everything that you need to provide in order
to enter the pageant. Don’t be overwhelmed. There is a lot of information in there, but it is
fairly straight forward and it will answer many questions you may have.

Return completed materials in person to City Hall, Attn: Kami Perkins, Miss Tooele City
Director, 90 N. Main Street by the deadline.
