Child Protection
11
It is important to draw attention to the provisions of the Child Protection Act
regarding mandatory reporting by the public and those who interact with
children and young people:
Anyone who becomes aware that a child is being abused, neglected or in unsafe
conditions where it is obvious that the child is in danger shall notify the Child
Protection Agency. The name of the person reporting is kept anonymous upon
request.
Contact Family and Social Services by phone 421 6700 and request a connection
with a child protection worker to report your suspicions and submit notification
to the Child Protection Agency.
Outside office hours you can contact the emergency telephone number 112
which receives child welfare reports around the clock. Notifier may request
anonymity to those notified unless there are special reasons to the contrary.

Rules about Children´s Curfew
Curfews are sanctioned by law and we must always obey the law
The regulations of curfews in Article 92. Child Protection no. 80/2002, states:
Children ages 12 and under may not be out in public after 8:00 pm unless
accompanied by an adult. Children ages 13 to 16 years may not be out in public
after 10:00 pm, unless they are on their way home from licensed school, sporting
or youth events. During the summer period from May 1 to September 1 the
curfew time is extended by two hours.
Age of this provision is based on the year of birth, not the date of birth.
Rules about curfews determines how long children can stay out late and not
that they must stay out late. Parents of course set their own rules within the
framework of the regulations of curfew.
