College Doesn't Have to Be An Option

Everyone is different, it is what makes us all unique. We all grow up with different

lifestyles and different interest. With that being said, not everyone believes school is for them.

Going to school is just part of life. You cannot get anywhere in life without going to school.

Once high school is complete you're free to do whatever you want. Start working or continue

school to further your education. However, if school is not for you, going college is not the path

to take immediately. The military is the best option a person can take without continuing school.

The military can take any person and transform them into a United States Soldier, Marine,

Airmen, or Sailor within a matter of two to three months. As a service member you will be

trained with countless skills that can be used in the military or once back home after you finish

your service. The U.S military is a great option for U.S citizens because it offers jobs like no

other, experiences like no other and makes you part of the most elite team of men and women.

The united states spends over 600 billion dollars on its defense budget, or in other words,

the military. The price comes for a reason. The united states invests on training their soldiers

with the best and most effective resources available. The variarity of training can lead to other

great things once your service is up. Such training includes being a leader. In the military
teamwork is the most essential element to a successful mission. Being able to lead a team is

something everyone must learn. Such leadership can lead you to many jobs that require

discipline, trust and teamwork. The military will make you into a person that has all those traits.

Many veterans have trouble transitioning from military to civilian life, however, there are

still many jobs that pay well and welcome veterans for their experience, team working abilities,

and leadership qualities. Jobs can vary from being a welder, cyber security analyst, to a

firefighter or cop. The military offers all those jobs and training. In the United states we look at

our service members proudly, with respect and gratitude. Many companies are veteran friendly

and will hire veterans because they know they can get the job done. It can make the transition

much less difficult and could lead to a career.

In the military your contract can range from the standard four years to six years depending

on the job you have. For that time the government owns you. As a compensation the government

offers you many benefits from housing discounts, tax free payment (depending on your

specialty) great healthcare to free education. The military can be a great way to find your true

calling in life. If you realize your education is important the government will pay for your

tuition costs and will remove all that crushing debt so many Americans face. The job market and

paycheck will increase exponentially with an education. It is okay that college is not for you

right after highschool. If you realize it is the way to go after your service it will not be a problem.

If you go to college before joining the military, the government offers loan paybacks or student

loan forgiveness. The government realizes their service members need special benefits, that is

why the G.I bill was introduced in 1944 by president Harry Truman.
To conclude if you think college is not for you then do not go. The military will be a great

option to figure yourself out or it can be a great career choice. It will teach you self discipline,

team working abilities and leadership. All of which can be applied to civilian life. Not to mention

the skills you will pick up from the training you receive. Transitioning from military to civilian

can be easy due to the many jobs that welcome veterans because of their team working abilities.

It is never too late to get your education, the government will pay for it if you chose to get one.

You do not have to think college is not an option after serving. Choosing to serve your country

can possibly be the best decision of your life, it can give you experiences like no other. Also, it

could lead you to great life decisions for your future. If college is not right for you right now, the

military can help you find your true calling. In the Army alone there are over 160 jobs to choose

from, they will all teach you things that can be applied in the real world. It is up to you to make

that decision, to do something greater than yourself. It is service that will make your country

proud, a service that will make you into a better person, a service that has to be done by

someone.
