“3 in 10 teen American girls will get pregnant at least once before age 20. That’s nearly
750,000 teen pregnancies every year” ( Kost and Henshaw). The issue of Teen Pregnancy and
how to prevent it is something that should not just be talked about, but also taken into action with
solutions such as advertising. Even though teen pregnancy rates have reduced significantly in the
United States, this is sadly still a problem because of the lack of protection used by teens and
lack of knowledge about how to have sex safely. So that the number of unplanned pregnancies is
reduced, attention needs to be given to this issue through better advertising for birth control.
Subsequent to a difficult home life, teenagers may turn to sex as a form of disobedience,
or to get attention from working parents, therefore knowing the risks is pertinent in preventing
International). Young adults do not feel a need to go to school. Many high school dropouts do
not get informed about how to properly have protected sex and most accidentally get woman
pregnant and if not accidently they think they are ready for parenthood, but lack knowledge.
However this is not the only cause. As a result, “Inadequate access to services tailored to young
people”(Plan International). This issue mentions that most young people do not have the
financial stability to pay for birth control or condoms. These people have no organizations or
medical clinics to go to because of the how little of them there are. These are some of the main

There are many serious effects of teen pregnancy on teens and society. There are
additional effects of pregnancy on teens. For example, “The teen pregnancy rate includes
pregnancies that end in a live birth, as well as those that end in abortion or miscarriage (fetal
loss)”(Trends in Teen). Teens do not realize that they will get pregnant without protection. This
results in abortions, miscarriage, and live births. Therefore consequently these teens are not
ready for parenthood so their children end up in an orphanage which leads to less room in
orphanages and more depressed kids up for adoption. However this is not the only impact on
society. Parents may be affected as well, “On the flip side, your parents may feel overbearing
because they want to make sure you and the baby are ok”(Teen Pregnancy Issues). Parents feel
the need to help their child out however some parents do not put up with teen pregnancy. Parents
get involved in a teenage pregnancy most of the time and when parents do get involved the
situation is impacted positively or negatively. Some parents will provide assistance while others
kick you out of their home. These issues have a huge impact on society believe it or not.
There are many solutions to fix the issue on teen pregnancy. For example if already
pregnant: “Also, find some activities that help keep you even tempered. Some examples include
a warm bath with music, meditation, slow breathing exercises, going for a walk, etc. A teen
pregnancy is hard enough, you need time to think, rejuvenate, and plan.”(Teen Pregnancy
Issues). Teen Pregnancy is a serious topic that should be avoided the most that it can, but if
already pregnant being active helps. “Activities indoors or outdoors such as running or
meditation”(Preventing Teen Pregnancies). However the best solution is just to not have sex at
all and if sex does happen take an effective birth control and use condoms to prevent sexually

transmitted disease. The safest way to be protected is to use protection! Protection such as
condoms is the way to go when it comes to stopping a sexually transmitted disease and stopping
pregnancies. Another good method or reliable source is birth control. Taking birth control on the
usual as needed is also good when it comes to stopping birth control. There are many solutions
more to educate teenagers in america. Understanding that teens are having unprotected sex as a
way of attracting attention from their families proves that more needs to be done to help students
feel loved and supported by their families and communities. If more is not done teenagers will
dramatically keep having pregnancies and these pregnancy will be a drain on society. However
solutions are easy to obtain and implement and teenagers need to be educated on where to go to
get protection. The more people start to care about teen pregnancy less teen births would occur
therefore pregnant teens will not get disowned by their families or made fun of by society, also
