Pronto Cycle Share

Decommissioning and Storage of Equipment

Report dated April 21, 2017
Motivate International Inc.

The decommissioning of the Pronto Cycle Share system was completed as planned on April 14, 2017,
with the removal of the final remaining stations from the street. System operation was suspended at the
end of the day on March 31, 2017, and removal of bikes and helmet bins commenced on April 1.
Removal of stations commenced on April 3 and was completed by April 14. On April 21, 2017, Motivate
staff did site visits to review the storage disposition of all materials with SDOT representatives Gerard
Green and Nicholas Makhani. This report reviews the final storage location and configuration for all
station equipment, bikes, helmet bins, helmets, spare parts, and tools, as reviewed with SDOT staff.

All station equipment was disassembled upon arrival at the project staging area at
SDOT’s “Sunny Jim” facility at 4200 Airport Way South. Kiosks and docks were removed from their
plates, and kiosks, docks, and plates were palletized and prepared for shipment according to
instructions received from the equipment manufacturer, 8D Technologies of Montreal (now affiliated
with Motivate), with a few modifications.

Kiosks were bolted to pallets (4 to a pallet),

wrapped individually with bubble wrap, and then
shrink wrapped. Kiosks were then transferred to the
SDOT facility at 900 Broad Street for indoor storage.

Docks were attached to pallets with a plywood base (12 to a pallet), protected with bubble wrap, and
shrink wrapped. They were then moved to the outdoor fenced slab (storage yard) north of the building
at Sunny Jim.

Docks secured to pallets and ready for storage.

Dock plates (or slabs) were stacked six to a pallet,

separated with 4 x 4’s and secured with steel
bands. They were then transferred to the outdoor
storage yard at Sunny Jim, along with the docks

Helmet bins were shrink wrapped to limit water

incursion and placed in the outdoor storage yard at
the Sunny Jim facility.

When the work was completed, 100% of the docks
(962), dock and kiosk plates (572, including
spares/extras), helmet bins (54), and wheel stops
were placed in the outdoor storage yard north of the
Building at Sunny Jim.

Bikes and helmets (new and used) were transferred

to the 900 Broad Street facility for storage. In
addition, custom crates were constructed for
storage of the kiosk solar panels and frames, kiosk
and dock cables, and the hardware used to secure
the kiosks and docks to their plates. All of these
crates were transferred to the 900 Broad Street
facility for storage. 100% of the kiosks (55), solar
panels and frames (54), bikes (460), cables and all
station hardware are stored at 900 Broad Street.

stacks of helmet boxes surrounding the
bikes. Bikes were not configured for
shipment but were stacked tightly next to
each other in order to ensure efficient use
of the available storage space. Bikes will
need to be packed for shipment by SDOT
when a purchaser of the system is
identified and is ready to receive them.

connector cables.
Spare station parts and station tools as well as bike parts and bike tools, bike keys (for users), and some
safe-hit posts and miscellaneous items were placed in the mezzanine storage area in the paint truck
garage at Sunny Jim. These materials may be moved to a tool room at SDOT’s Charles Street facility for
secure storage at SDOT’s discretion (as discussed with Gerard Green).

All terminal keys (including the BNY terminal keys) and security bits for bikes and bollards (docks) will be
provided in a small plastic storage box to Kyle Rowe of SDOT for safe keeping.
