Abstract

This paper is made based on the problematics about the importance of the use
of English in hospitality. The problem that is reviewed in this paper is entitled
“Perception of the Importance of Mastering English as a Support Service to the
Foreign Guests for the Front Office Staffs in Holiday Inn Hotel Bandung.” The
purpose of this paper is to knowing the importance of the use of English to support
the service to foreign guests in hospitality in this era. In working this paper, the
author using the data collection technique, literature study method, interviews and
questionnaires.

The result of this research is the use of English in hospitality will increase the
quality of service of the hotel. It may seen from the reactions of the foreign guests
who is happy because the communication between them and the Front Office staffs is
running well. Therefore, it can concludes that Holiday Inn Hotel Bandung which is
located at jalan. Ir. H. Juanda is having a good prospect in development and the use of
English so that it can be a point plus for the foreign guests.

In this research, the author doing some exclusive interviews with some Front
Office staffs at Holiday Inn Hotel Bandung. The result of the interview shows that the
