“Web of Fries”- A father brings Taco Bell home for the family and is greeted excitedly by his
daughter as he gets to the door. As the family is eating, he daughter states that she wants fries.
The mother replies that Taco Bell does not serve french fries, leading the father to question why?
He looks it up and receives an anonymous phone call. He then realizes he has stumbled upon a
giant conspiracy perpetrated by “big fries.” This leads him down the path of trying to unravel the
conspiracy, only to end up crashing into a lake after being run off the road by some of big fry’s
cronies. The ad ends there on a cliffhanger, which is resolved in part two.

1. Primary Purpose: The primary purpose is to make people aware of Taco Bell’s new
nacho fries and persuade them to go to their nearest Taco Bell and buy some.

2. Target Market: The target audience for this advertisement is largely the same as it is for most
of Taco Bell’s advertising efforts, 18-30 year olds. This message is targeted to people in that age
who are looking for quality food they can get quickly and for a good price. The ad also target
people who are looking for an alternative to the mundane world of fries and ketchup.

3. Support: The support of the primary message is humor. Through the incredibly funny story,
Taco Bell tells the consumer about a new product in a very memorable way. The over-
dramatized highly-edited style parodies the popular movies industry beautifully and serves a
great way to loosen the audience up for the message.

4. The ad is saying the consumer is intelligent and is able to understand the satirization and
parody occuring. Taco Bell knows it customer’s will be able to tell the ad is sarcastic. The needs
of the target audience are quality food for a cheap price, specifically, an alternative to the
everyday french fry.

5. The ad is incredibly successful at communicating the key message to the target audience.
Through the incredibly elaborate story, Taco Bell has made an ad that customers will not forget.
The ad never strays from its message either, reinforcing the message of nacho fries repeatedly.
6. The production qualities of the commercial are absolutely fantastic. It’s the whole point of the
commercial. Through these enhance production qualities, Taco Bell is able to tell its fun parody
story.

7. The ad is consistent with Taco Bell’s current advertisements. Taco Bell is always selling their
products in highly creative over-dramatized ways. This ad is no different.

8. This ad does reflect broader business strategic moves. Taco Bell is looking to branch out the
number of products it offers to customers. This ad showcases their foray into the well traveled
road of fast food restaurants offering french fries. They might have been late to the party, but this
ad shows they are ready to be the life of the party.

9. This ad does not contain a slogan. However, that is part of what makes it great. It is not a
typical advertisement, but a clever parody with branded messaging.
