Data and Project Progress #2

Project Summary: The purpose of the study conducted is to evaluate an alternative pathway for
the treatment of Prostate Cancer. In response to the growing resistance to typical cancer
treatments (E.g Abiraterone), researchers have conducted a study analyzing Triptolide’s
predicted immunosuppressive and inhibitory properties. The end product will be directed
towards pharmaceutical companies and other researchers interested in alternative treatments.

Data Collection: The type of data collection involved is quantitative experimental data.
Currently, several experiments have been conducted such as cell culturing with varying amounts
of Triptolide, qPCR, RNA transcription, and IC​50​ analysis.

Goals:
● Next Week:
○ Complete analyzing qPCR data and create the supplementary graphs (will use in
the paper)
○ Complete research paper and data and send it to mentor for a second
○ Complete research paper and data and send it to mentor for a second review
○ Synthesize mentor input into paper and pass it on to Sasser
○ Conference with Sasser
● Long Term: Secure new mentor and intern position. First, send emails and secure spot to
begin in May. Update resume.
Accomplishments:
● Completed writing research paper but still need to finalize data collection
● Created a cover letter
● Created gift for mentor and wrote a thank you letter
● Beginning to wrap up paper and work
