HON. ROBERT L. RODRIGUEZA

Governor
Province of Sorsogon

Attention : Maria Teresa V. Destura, Ph.D.

Provincial Agriculturist

Dear Hon. Rodrigueza:

The Department of Agriculture (DA) – Trade Remedy Unit (TRU) under the Policy Research
Service (PRS) will conduct its second leg in 2019 of the series of Orientation-Seminar on Trade
Remedies, Free-Trade Agreements and Disciplines on Agricultural Trade on 18-21 June
2019 in The Marison Hotel, Legazpi City, Albay for agri-fishery stakeholders in Region V,
including concerned government regional offices.

The four-day activity aims to equip the participants with knowledge on: 1) World Trade
Organization (WTO); 2) Philippine Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) in force and under negotiation;
3) available trade remedy measures (anti-dumping, countervailing and safeguards); and 4) other
disciplines and tools on agricultural trade such as rules of origin (ROO) and sanitary and
phytosanitary (SPS) measures. We hope that by sharing these principles, participants will be able
to know and understand the laws and policy tools that govern agricultural and international
trade. Learning these principles will help the agri-fishery stakeholders to maximize the potential
benefits offered by these.

This activity will include lectures and discussion on topics mentioned, including actual cases. In
view of this, we are inviting your company to send one (1) representative to participate in the
said orientation-seminar.

DA will be providing food and accommodation for the participants. However, we request that the
travelling expenses of your representative/s be charged to your respective offices. The activity
will be held in Legazpi City, Albay. Attached is the tentative program of activities and confirmation
slip for your reference.

For inquiries, your office may coordinate with Ms. Elizabeth Macaraeg or Ms. Donabel Fiegalan of
the DA-TRU at telephone numbers 273-2463 local 2316 or via email address
tru.mepd.prs@gmail.com. We would appreciate it if you can confirm your participation on or
before 13 June 2019.

We look forward to your participation.

Very truly yours,

NOEL A. PADRE
