Instructional Software
The teacher will introduce the study of historical figures in Georgia History using Martin Luthor King Jr. video
as a hook. The teacher will inform the students they will inform the students that they will be conducting a
research project where they will gather information about the contributions of Martin Luther King Jr.
Students will be challenged to remember 2 contributions presented in the video about Martin Luther King Jr.

After watching the video, the teacher will ask students to share the contributions they remembered from the
video and the teacher will create a list of them. Students will then break off into three or four groups. They
will review the video and listen for additional facts about Martin Luther King Jr. Students will then return into
a large group and share the new information found and add it to the list.

Once the list is complete, the teacher will demonstrate how to create a presentation on PowerPoint for
Martin Luther King Jr. The teacher will assign groups a contribution where they will create a slide for a short
presentation about Martin Luther King Jr. It will be presented to the class and then published on the
classroom website to be shared with others.

Reflective Practice:
To extend the lesson to a higher LoTi level, students will conduct research with another historical figure that is
listed in the standard. They will divide back into the three or four groups, chose a historical figure and do
research to create a short presentation to be shared with the class and published in the classroom website.
