and providing quality chiropractic care across the city of Hong Kong.
Whether it’s sponsoring a community event, donating prizes for local
community; attending local celebrations and events; volunteering for
a charity work to the caregivers; or volunteering at the sports event,
CDAHK has always been a supporter and participant in many
community events, fundraisers, and programs.
The Mission for
Migrant Workers
DEDICATED TO DELIVER
RESPONSIVE SERVICES

There are more than 300,000 foreign domestic

workers in Hong Kong. Of this number, 98% are
women who come from the Philippines,
Indonesia, Thailand, Nepal, Sri Lanka and other
underdeveloped countries in Asia. They are
workers who are often underpaid, overworked,
experienced musculoskeletal pain..

Dr Rich Lau, Vice Chairman of CDAHK, lead the

team of chiropractors helping migration
workers today. The Mission for Migrant Workers
(MFMW) is a charitable organization dedicated
to deliver responsive services to migrants and
develop self-sustaining capacities of migrant’s
organizations for mutual aid and cooperation.
CDAHK Dr Rick and Carmen were able to help
with more than hundreds of migrants with their
symptoms on May 18, 2019.

VOLUNTEERING IN KOREA

Improving human welfare is a moral imperative and by correcting

spinal alignments we help to alleviate the suffering of others.
Every year during the first week of June, Dr. Rin Park always
volunteers on an isolated island with a group of passionate
healthcare providers. They are providing a health care to
unprivileged people living in isolated Island where there is no
health care provider. The volunteer group included members of
internist, dentist, acupuncturist, chiropractor, nurses and other
volunteers.

As a rapidly ageing society, Hong Kong
needs to be prepared for the challenges
ahead. Government is making more early
policy intervention for the provision of
sufficient caregivers and healthcare
profession to out as a priority.

CHIROPRACTIC
FOR ELDERLY
The Elderly Health Care Voucher Scheme
(HCVS) aims to subsidise elders’ use of the
chiropractic healthcare services. The
following chiropractor who are registered
in Hong Kong are eligible to participate in
the HCVS. If an elder has used vouchers,
the voucher amount concerned will be
reimbursed to the chiropractor provider in
arrears on a monthly basis. Chiropractors
who have successfully enrolled in the HCVS
will be issued with the Scheme Logo for
display outside their practices for
identification. They will also be provided a
username, a personal password and a
security token for accessing the eHealth
System (Subsidies).

Lead by Dr Eric Chun Pu Chu, the Elderly Care Team has been
serving humanity for the greater good. They reach out into
the community to provide immediately care for the elderly in
collaboration with other many healthcare professionals. The
aim is to provide immediate care, increase their self-care
ability of the elderly, and to enhance the quality of caregiving.
They serve the suffering and help provide a better standard
of living. Preventive, promotive and curative services are
provided from a family medicine perspective using a multi-
disciplinary team approach. The pro bono medical service
with top doctors are often granted to patients with
complicated conditions.

Myasthenia gravis (MG) is an autoimmune disorder, caused by

circulating antibodies against the acetylcholine receptor
(AChR) and associated proteins. Anticholinesterase
medications and immunomodulating therapies are the
mainstays of current treatment. Presented here is a case of a
51-year-old female who had been diagnosed with MG based on
symptoms and continued elevation of antibody to AChR (anti-
AChR) by her family physician. The patient’s anticholinesterase
medication was halted due to significant side effects affecting
bowel function. She only received acupuncture treatment in
the past 4 months prior to this presentation. Myasthenic
symptoms deteriorated and the anti-AChR titer kept elevating
after stopping medication. She originally came to us due to
neck and back pain rather than myasthenic complaints. This

case is interesting that her back pain and myasthenic
symptoms went into complete remission within 1 month of Remission of
initiating chiropractic adjustment. The concomitant recession
of the myasthenic symptoms raises considerable interest for myasthenia gravis
the mystery of MG, including the causal link between stress
and autoimmune disease, the role of ACh in immune following cervical
regulation, and the possible mechanisms of disease
