 WfC Asian Regional Summit Meeting
WfC Asian Regional Summit Meeting held July 13-
14, 2019. Leaders from the national associations of
Singapore, Philippines, South Korea, Hong Kong,
Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia and Taiwan have met to
discuss the future of chiropractic in the WFC’s most
populous region.
Dr. Eric Chun Pu Chu reports on the update of
Hong Kong Chiropractic profession
Covering a wide range of issues, the summit
meeting tackled capacity and sustainability,
education and ethics, and opportunities for growth.
Speaking after the meeting, Dr Kei Takeyachi, the
WFC’s Board representative for the Asian region,
said, “This was an historic meeting, bringing
together key figures from the region. There is
substantial agreement on the opportunities
available to the chiropractic profession in Asia and
we’re looking forward to working with all of our
constituent members in the coming months and
years to realize the potential for growth and
development. “

CDAHK chiropractors have been giving back to the local

community and providing quality chiropractic care across the
city of Hong Kong. Whether it’s sponsoring a community
event, donating prizes for local community; attending local
celebrations and events; volunteering for a charity work to the
caregivers; or volunteering at the sports event, CDAHK has
always been a supporter and participant in many community
events, fundraisers, and programs.

We understand the new learning through
innovative study module such as VC Cave
and digital cadavers.
Virtual reality (VR) is becoming a
prominent teaching force in the healthcare
industry. A CAVE is a small room or cubicle
where at least three walls act as giant
monitors. Users can also move around in a
Psychiatric hospital without being
tethered to a computer, though they still
must wear a pair of funky goggles that are
similar to 3-D glasses.
Anatomy, the study of the architecture of
the human body, is by tradition the
defining course of a healthcare providers
training. The training is usually
accompanied by anxiety, fear,Nand,

Queen’s University is one of Canada’s oldest degree-granting

institutions, and has influenced Canadian higher education since
1841 when it was established by Royal Charter of Queen Victoria. It
has a 175 years of tradition, academic excellence, research, and
beautiful waterfront campus made of limestone buildings and
modern facilities.
Dr Barbara Crow, Dean of the Arts and Science, has led the
researchers, scholars, artists, professors and students with an
ambitious spirit who want to develop ideas that can make a
difference in the world. She interviewed Dr Eric Chun Pu Chu,
CDAHK Chairman, as the alumni chiropractor who imagine what
the future could be and work together with his team to realize it.

Sports chiropractors play in a team and take a multidisciplinary approach to treat their
patients. They are trained with an extensive knowledge of sports and sports-related
injuries. They’re uniquely qualified to diagnose and treat an athlete’s body without the use
of drugs or surgeries. Because chiropractic careis defined by its “hands on” approach to
healing and the belief in caring for the entire body, it’s becoming an increasingly popular
way to stay in the game without relying on drugs or surgeries.

SOFIA, May 12 (Xinhua) -- China finished at the top of the

points table at the World Rowing Cup I, which ended in
Bulgaria's city of Plovdiv on Sunday.
In the first international regatta for 2019, China gained 61
points, followed by Poland with 45 and the Netherlands
with 44.
In the three-day event, which featured 14 Olympic boat
classes and two international boat classes and gathered over
300 athletes from 24 countries and regions, China won four
gold, four silver and one bronze medals.

The World Rowing Cup

The World Rowing Cup is an international rowing competition

organized by FISA (the International Rowing Federation). It
first began in 1997 and comprises three regattas (apart from
in 2001 when there were four) held throughout early summer.
In each event points are awarded to the top seven finishing
boats and an overall winner determined after the last world
cup regatta each year. During the regattas the current leader
in each event must wear yellow bibs. The World Rowing Cup
has only been staged outside Europe on 3 occasions, in
2001 Princeton and in both 2013 and 2014 Sydney. In 2019, the
three stages in the series are Plovdiv, Bulgaria (10-12 May),
Poznan, Poland (21-23 June) and Rotterdam, the Netherlands
(12-14 July).

The growing popularity of Ultimate Fighting

Championship (UFC) fights and the quest for
fitness have turned a lot of people into Mixed
Martial Arts (MMA) enthusiasts.

Shooto is a combat sport and mixed martial arts

organization that is governed by the Shooto
Association and the International Shooto
Commission. Shooto was originally formed in
1985, as an organization and as a particular
fighting system derived from shoot wrestling.
Practitioners are referred to as shooters, similarly
to practitioners of shoot wrestling. Shooto rules
have evolved such that their events are now true
mixed martial arts competitions.

CHIROPRACTIC RESEARCH
CDAHK is dedicated to the advancement of
chiropractic health care. We taps into the

therapeutics and features high-quality, peer-
reviewed journal articles and practical
information for clinical settings.
We report a 58-year-old male with sequelae of polio
who presented with low back and left buttock pain,
and pitting oedema of both legs for four months.
The patient had a history of poliomyelitis at the age
of 1 year which resulted in bilateral lower leg
weakness, particularly on the left side. Magnetic
resonance imaging showed cervical spinal stenosis
secondary to posterior osteophyte formation, left
paracentral disc extrusion at L2/L3 and L3/L4 levels
with compression of the traversing L4 nerve root.
The findings confirmed a diagnosis of lumbar
radiculopathy caused by a herniated disc. The
patient subsequently underwent a chiropractic
treatment. The painful symptoms and pitting
oedema in this case resolved with spinal
adjustment in addition to scraping therapy to
strengthen bilateral low back and the gluteal
muscles. 
This case provides circumstantial
evidence of a scarcely mentioned
association between pitting oedema
and lumbar radiculopathy caused by
disc herniation. The
pathophysiological mechanism is
elusive, but might involve a complexity
of cytokine-mediated inflammation
and interconnection between somatic
and autonomic nervous systems.
It has been reported that a single
spinal adjustment may reduce the
level of circulating inflammatory
cytokines (TNF- α andIL-1 β ) via a central
yet unknown mechanism.[14] Even if
chiropractic manipulation does not
target the immune system for
modulating specific cytokines, the
nature of manual intervention can be
effective in strengthening muscles and
minimizing functional decline through
a variety of hands-on treatments, and
potentially alleviating inflammation
and associated symptoms.
