The Facility
Located northeast of Dallas, the $195 million, 469,000 sq. ft. Baylor McKinney
Medical Center is a six-story full-service 95-bed facility with multiple surgical units
and a medical office campus on a full 58 acres. As part of the medical center’s
long-term plans, the hospital structure can be modified to include additional floors,
increasing the number of beds to 400 as community growth warrants.
The facility holds a LEED® Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.
The Project
Baylor McKinney selected Clickeze® Formatrac® Bendable Track for its privacy curtains
in all patient rooms. The flexibility of the track offers the ability to bend the track into
a custom shape to fit the room configuration enabling easy field installation.
In addition, the designers heeded the advice of evidence based design advocates
who have called for handrails from the patient’s bed to bathroom as a steadying
surface to reduce slip-fall risk. Baylor McKinney took a significant step in reducing the
potential for fall injuries by installing IPC® HR9 Handrail from beside the bed to the
bathroom.
Finally, IPC® 3500 Handrails with Inpro’s patent-pending G2 BioBlend® polymer

were used in corridor installations.
