INQUIRY- BASED CONTEXTUALIZATION APPROACH

TITLE/TOPIC: CELL THEORY


GRADE LEVEL: SHS-11
TIME ALLOTMENT: 60 MINUTES

LEARNING COMPETENCIES AND OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, the students will be able to:
 Explain the postulates of the cell theory
DESCRIPTION OF LOCALIZATION/INDIGENIZATION:
To elicit prior knowledge of the history of the cell, the students will be shown with pictures of a
family tree so that they can easily relate and recall the relationship of the members of the family from
their great grandparents up to their generation.

7 E’s MATERIALS
ELICIT: 5 minutes  SLIDES
To recall the previous knowledge of the learners, teacher will let the  LAPTOP
students perform an activity entitled “The Jumbled Words”. (PROJECTOR/TV)
INSTRUCTIONS: Form the correct words of the jumbled letters on the left
to identify the correct names of the different scientists involves in cell
theory development.
You may use the hints provided in the visual clue.

ENGAGE: 5 minutes META STRIPS
The learners will be grouped according to the assigned cleaners of their MARKER
classroom.
The teacher will prepare meta strips with a picture of the different
discoveries in relation to the scientist being discussed by the students.
They will post their answers according to the scientists or theories that are
posted on the board.

EXPLORE: 10 minute Egg tray


The teacher will let the students to observe the following materials: Soft drinks case
Egg tray Glass organizer
Soft drinks case

EXPLAIN: 15 minutes
The teacher asks the students to describe/give the common
features/characteristics of the certain materials assigned to their group.
They will present their output through their group representative.
The teacher may give additional inputs after the group presentation.
ELABORATE: 10 minutes VIDEO CLIPS
The teacher will show a short video clip presentation about cell theory LAPTOP
development. PROJECTOR/TV
After watching the video they will answer an activity entitled “Timeline on
the Discovery of the Cell”.

EXTEND: 5 minutes PAPER AND PEN


The teacher will instruct the students to make their own personal timeline
from Grade 7 up to the present year.
They will only write the memorable experiences they encounter on that
particular year/school year.
EVALUATE/Q & A PORTION: 10 minutes FLASH CARD/META
The teacher will assess the level of understanding of the learners regarding STRIPS
on the “Cell Theory Development”.
The teacher will show a flash card with names of the scientists and they
will write their answers on the meta strips given by group.
