THE LEGO MOVIE Competition Special Edition

As we mentioned in Augusts newsletter, we have been working on a special

competition just for your
curators (and maybe a few of your friends)!

Youve no doubt heard the upcoming THE LEGO MOVIE is to be released in 2014. Youve
probably heard we
had a stop-motion competition right here on ReBrick where the winning movie might
just end up in the
finished movie.

Now, we have a special THE LEGO MOVIE contest only for our curators. That means
you! If you want to
enter you could win a 70808 Super Cycle Chase from THE LEGO MOVIE signed by model
designer Luis F. E.
Castaneda and possibly see your outcome in THE LEGO MOVIE. Thats right. IN the
movie!

The contest itself:

Within THE LEGO MOVIE, our heroes will be discussing new and exciting locations
within their world. To
give the audience an idea of these locations, they will provide introductory
snapshots of what to expect.
Thats where you come in we want to have these snapshots created by fans.

We would like to invite you on a scavenger hunt for a set list of items (outlined
below). Rather than finding
them as you would with a regular scavenger hunt, you will bookmark creations made
by you or your team.

Thats right, your team (should you wish to have one). You can recruit up to 4
builders to your team.
Making your chances of winning (and giving fellow builders an opportunity to be
part of THE LEGO MOVIE)
that much better. So make sure to get some good builders on your team. .

The List:

. Pirates Cove
. Vikings Landing
. Knights Club
. Clown Town
. Music
. Voting Machines
. History Books
. Dairy Products
. A Gas Station

We know that some of these items dont make sense on their own (what is a clown
town exactly?).
However, we invite you to use your imagination to symbolize these ideas in one
simple snapshot, like
showing a group of people rocking out for Music, or a group of cows for Dairy
Products. Have fun with it,
but remember the LEGO brand guidelines and that the theme should be easily
recognizable by the
snapshot.
So basically, the steps are:

1. Review the list of items needed below; choose at least one which you wish to
enter in the
competition. You can enter multiple bookmarks for the same item on the list or
choose to enter
multiple categories (although youll only receive prizes for up to three
categories).
2. Decide if you wish to work solo or on a team. You can recruit a maximum of 4
other builders on
your team (but no other curators).
3. Get bookmarking! The creations you submit can be old or new for the competition,
so long as
someone on your team made them and has the rights to use them.
4. Email us your list of entries with the URLs and the list items they represent.
Dont forget to let us
know who you had on your team! Make sure everything is correct and final here you
cant change
your entries once its emailed to us.

Timeframe:

The contest begins the moment youve been sent this email so the sooner you
decide to be part of the
challenge, the more time you have. The contest ends at 11:59 p.m. EST (or 5:59 a.m.
CET) October 25th.
Winners will be notified by November 8th.

How to win:

There will be one winner for each category, which could mean a total of 10
potential winners! You
many win for multiple categories as well (although prizes will only be awarded for
up to three
categories). Entries will be judged on:

. Build and photo quality

. Relation to theme
. Overall originality
. Votes/comments on the ReBrick bookmark

The prize:

Why, having your creation featured in The LEGO Movie with your name in the credits
as an AFOL Builder!
Since you as a curator will be assembling a team and submitting a proposal, well
give you a little something
extra should your team win one of the categories: the 70808 Super Cycle Chase from
THE LEGO MOVIE
signed by designer Luis F. E. Castaneda, once its available. However, if you or
your team wins two
categories, well give you another set from the movie (we cant tell you which
since it hasnt been
announced yet). If you win three, well give you another . its up to you if you
wish to share this prize.
Unfortunately we can only give out prizes for up to three categories.

The jury will consist of:

. Sara Moore, Online Community Specialist at The LEGO Group
. Phil Lord, Director of THE LEGO MOVIE
. Chris Miller, Director of THE LEGO MOVIE
. Chris McKay, Co-Director of THE LEGO MOVIE

A few rules to live by:

. Any LEGO Minifigures featured in your film should only be from LEGO Group created
IPs, such as
LEGO City, Knights and Kingdom, etc. and should NOT be from a LEGO Group licensed
set such as
Star Wars or Harry Potter.
. Photos must be taken with a camera over 8MP, not a smart phone camera, and where
possible
shoot raw or jpeg on fine compression settings to make sure the models are well
lit.
. Entries must only contain elements from the LEGO collection and no customized
parts. Any use of
the LEGO logo will also result in disqualification.
. All entries and entrants must follow the ReBrick House Rules.
. We reserve the right to disqualify any entry that does not follow the official
rules. Any form of
cheating will result in a banning of user profile from ReBrick.
. This competition is exclusive just to ReBrick Curators as part of their
participation in the Curator
Challenge. Keep in mind that bragging about the competition to other fans could
result in you
behind disqualified from the competition.

Happy building,

Sara, Freddie, Peter and the Team at Warner Bros.
