WHO WILL BE AN ASTROLOGER~~~~~ AN ASTROLOGICAL OVERVIEW

India is considered as the motherland of Vedic astrology known as Jyotisha. Vedic astrology holds a
significant role globally. It’s one of the important limbs of Vedangas. In Vedic literature astrology is
treated as “ved chakshu” that means the eyes of Vedas.

As per famous classic book ‘Phaldeepika’ to become a good astrologer one should have some
significant qualities :

(i) Native should be expert in astonomy.

(ii) Native should have sound knowledge of mathematics.
(iii) Native should have good moral character.
(iv) Native should involve in spiritualism or he should be religious.

Combinations of astrologer
(i) “Jataka Parijata”, one of the famous classic of Vedic literature, states that if lord of the
10th house occupies in the Navamsha of mercury, the native will be an astrologer. Here I
like to mention that three Lagnas, i.e. Surya Lagna, Chandra Lagna and Lagna. Stronger
among three should be counted. 10th from the three lagnas should be judged and
stronger should be counted.
(ii) In the famous classic ‘Brihatjataka’, Varahamihira states that if Sun is in Gemini, native
will be an astrologer. Here I want to mention that I’ve observed in my practicing life that
if Sun is with Mercury and occupies Aries, Gemini, Leo, Sagittarius and Pisces, native is
an expert in Vedic astrology.
(iii) Mantreswara in ‘Phaladeepika’(Ch5,Sl5) states if the 10th house occupies the house of
Mercury, native will be an astrologer. In my practicing life I’ve observed that if Mercury
occupies the 10th house(from Chandra Lagna, Surya Lagna also), native takes astrology as
his career.
(iv) Sage Gargacharya states in his Hora Shastra that if Moon, Venus and Saturn is in 5th
house, native will be an astrologer.
(v) In another classic book of astrology ‘Jataka Tattwa’ Mahadeva states when Dhanesh is
strong and Mercury is placed in Kendra/Kona or Labha the native becomes an
astrologer(3.5.47).
(vi) In ‘Jataka Tattwa’ Mahadeva also states when Guru is uchha and placed in dhana
sthana, native will be best among astrologers(3.5.48). In my practicing life I often
observed that if 2nd house is occupied by Jupiter or 2nd lord is connected with Jupiter
then the native is expert in astrology.
(vii) In ‘Jataka Tattwa’ Mahadeva also states(3.5.46) if Mercury and Venus is in the 3rd house
or the 2nd house, native will be an expert in Vedic studies.
(viii) In another classic book ‘Maansagari’(3.24)it is stated that when 2nd lord is in the 11th
house, the native becomes adept in the affair of grahas, i.e, the native will opt for
astrology as profession. In this context I want to mention that I’ve noticed in my
practicing life that if 2nd lord is connected with 11th lord and occupies in
Kendra/kona/upachaya house, the native will be astrologer.
(ix) ‘Saravali, a famous classic book of astrology, is a monumental work of Kalyan Verma.
There he states(15.15)––– Mars and Venus yoga makes a native astrologer. The native is
worshipped, is chief among men, he is a mathematician or astrologer. Kalyan Verma also
states(16.25) that Moon, Venus and Saturn Yoga makes a native a writer, reader of
books, priest, endowed with merits of past birth and astrologer. In Saravali he also says
Sun in Gemini sign(22.18-19)–– native will be liberal, skilfull and an astrologer. In
Saravali it is also stated that Chandra in Dhanu rashi and aspected by Budha(23.59–64)
native will be an astrologer, he will have knowledge of dancing . In my practicing life I
have observed that all above combinations mentioned in Saravali works in Navamsha
kundli. In this case I think Navamsha kundli is an important factor to come to any
conclusion. That’s why Navamsha is treated as backbone of Rashi chart.
(x) Kalyan Verma also includes some combinations in ‘Saravali’(33.14–18). He states if Sun
conjoins Mars in 10th house from Moon, the native believes in hard work, suffers from
cough or consumption and is an astrologer. In this context, I like to mention that in my
practicing life I’ve noticed that from Lagna also this combination works.
(xi) We all know that Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra(BPHS) is treated as Bhagbat Gita of
Vedic astrology. In BPHS Sage Parashara states that if Guru and Chandra is in
karakamsha or in 5th thereof,– some say 2nd from karakamsha should also be
simultaneously considered–the native will be author. Rahu, Ketu in 5th,2nd or karakamsha
denotes that one is expert in astrology.
Sage Parashara states only one but important combination in BPHS. According to
him when Rahu/Ketu occupies karakamsha, 2nd or 5th house from karakamsha, native
becomes an astrologer.
‘Ravana Samhita’ authored by none other than Lankesh Ravana is also an
important book in Vedic astrological literature. As per this book one will become an
astrologer––
(i) If Sun is in the star of 2nd lord. 2nd lord should be strong.
(ii) If Sun is connected with the star of the 5th lord.
(iii) If Sun is in the star of Ketu.
As per famous astrologer Dr. Suresh Chandra Mishra native will be an astrologer if ––
(i) Natural malefic planet is owner of Rashi or Lagna.
(ii) Malefic planets connects 1,5,9,12 house in any lagna.
(iii) Atma karaka or Amatya karaka planet connects with natural malefic planets.
(iv) Venus being Atma karaka connects natural malefic planets.
(v) Jupiter being Atma karaka same result can be predicted.
In a nutshell, 2nd house/lord, 5th house/lord, 10th house/lord, 8th house/lord
are important to be an astrologer. Mercury, Saturn, Vnus, Jupiter, Ketu, Sun play
pivotal role in making one an astrologer. If these planets make an impact on
Ascendant, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th house, the native is then inclined
towards astrology and occult studies.
Besides Rashi chart the above mentioned combinations should also be
checked in Navamsha(D9), Vimsamsha(D20), haturvimsamsha(D24),
Saptavimsamsha(D27) kundli and Karakamsha kundli. Navamsha kundli is
backbone of Rashi chart. It has its own significance. So all above combinations
should be judged from this chart. Vimsamsha kundli (D20) denotes religious
inclination, sadhna– devotion, spirituality. As astrology is the eyes of Vedas so
this is divine science. So from D20 chart all the above combinations should be
judged. And from D24 kundli we judge education. Astrology is a divine subject
and it needs deep devotion to learn. So from D24 kundli if all the above
combinations are found, we can say that native will be an astrologer. From D27
chart we denote strength. God has given us three types of strength, i.e, physical,
mental and spiritual strength. It needs deep mental and spiritual strength to
learn this divine subject. So if all the combinations are found in this chart then
we can conclude that native is destined to be an astrologer.

and also to find goal of their life. That’s why astrology is treated as eyes of Vedas
and astrologers are treated as Daivagna. At last I like to finish my words
mentioning the divine lines of Brihadaranyaka Upanishada ––––
