Statement of Purpose

Knowing others is intelligence.

Knowing yourself is true wisdom.
Mastering others is strength.
Mastering yourself is true power.
-Lao Tzu

In the modern era of technology and competitiveness, every person treats life as a race in itself.
From the moment he is born, he has come to know the world as a track and field where speed is the rule
that everyone has to live by. He has to buckle up, and follow the race or he will be a loser in the field,
the subject of embarrassment.

With this, he has to learn to live in the fast-paced world where “instant” is everyone’s life
principle – beating deadlines, working by the timetable, and planning schedules. Humanity has become
a generation of automaton, excessively obsessed with speed that owning a wristwatch has become a
necessity. A man has to own one or else, failure will be a breath away.

Everything is by the clock and man is so used to glancing on those two little hands that we
become unaware that this habit is now bordering towards obsession. Not knowing the time, people
become anxious and uneasy nervous wrecks, consistently edgy and jittery, unable to live in the moment,
and constantly living in fear of the future.

Now, as time flies by, life passes also, and it was too late when man has realized it. Yes, through
years of toil, he has come to learn everything about his work. However, realization dawns upon him – he
has neglected that part which really matters - knowing himself. He never knew himself-never knew his
own passions, never knew his talents, never developed to great potentials, never knew his own true
colour. Being time maniac, he is moving with the increasing acceleration of a speeding car, so fast and
fleeting that every single shape in his vision loses its edges, disappearing to a chaos of greyish blur.

The seminar-workshop and this book is a proof of our commitment to self- familiarization and
self-awareness. We, with our hundred percent resolve, commit that we refuse to become a common
man of this time-obsessed generation of automaton. From time to time, we shall stop and look into
ourselves. Every now and then, we shall detach ourselves from the chaotic outside world and explore
another vast dimension that is within us, our own identities.

From now on, we vow that before we know everything, we shall first know our own selves. That
before we develop others’ potentials, we shall first develop our own and not the other way around.

This is our goal. This is the totality of our individual visions. In its pursuit, we may stumble, be
carried away by the hubbub and hurly-burly of everyday life. But although “promises are made to be
broken”, we are neither worried nor anxious. We never did promise .But, we COMMITTED on this goal.

“Commitments are NOT meant to be broken.”
