Biblical Healing
It is God’s will for you to be well

Wendy Bowen
Biblical Healing
INTRODUCTION

Our God heals. Jesus Christ took ALL of our sicknesses upon Himself at
the cross and nullified ALL of the enemy’s assertions to the contrary.
Healing was included in the price Jesus paid to redeem us as God’s
people and this makes healing our born-again birthright as His children.
The only thing left for us to do is to believe what Jesus has done for us
and to receive it for ourselves as a free gift.
This may sound over simplified, but I assure you it is not. Too often, we
in the Church have made healing teachings too complicated because our
experience does not match what we read in the Word of God. When we
do this, we reframe the Scriptures and take them out of context to create
doctrines which justify ourselves, our experiences, and our unbelief.
Frequently, prayer methods and techniques are constructed, which good
as they may seem, have unintentionally created rules and religion, which
inherently disqualify us from free grace because they have shifted our
faith from our Healer to our method. At other times, when it seems God
is not supernaturally intervening to heal us, we become frustrated or
overly passive in the name of God’s sovereignty, rather than truly
seeking to know Him as our Healer and actively engaging our faith to
receive what He died to give us, even if it means repenting of wrong
beliefs. However, healing comes when we know God through the
righteousness Christ has provided for us. This means that we must be
willing to have our minds, hearts, and lives changed in whatever ways
necessary to bring our experience into alignment with God’s Word rather
than the other way around.
Some people struggle more with believing God for healing but most
struggle more with receiving healing from God. The two are inextricably
intertwined. Therefore, I believe that the Lord has led me to write this
book in two sections: Believing and Receiving. The Believing section
starts with the story of our redemption as children of God, using the

Passover as the prophetic shadow and springboard for our study. This
section is dedicated to proving from the Scriptures in various ways that
our healing is most definitely a finished work that Jesus paid for in full,
without exception. Then, the Receiving section’s purpose is to assist you
in aligning yourself with the truth so that you can obtain healing for
yourself. This includes practical applications for believing Jesus in
addition to demolishing some erroneous arguments the enemy uses to
keep God’s people stuck in unbelief and infirmity. The chapters in the
Believing section are longer and weightier, while the chapters of the
Receiving section are shorter and punchier. Both sections are equally
important to your healing and I strongly encourage you to read the whole
book because questions raised as you read one section may very well be
addressed in the other. Plus, there is no use dismantling wrong ideas
unless they are replaced with truth and there is little value in knowledge
of the Scriptures unless we take steps to put our faith into practice in our
lives.
On that note, I also believe that the Lord has asked me to share more of
my own testimonies in this book than any other book I have written to
date. To start, you should know that several years ago, after pursing the
Lord fairly intensely in the area of healing, He gave me such penetrating
revelation of His healing as a part of our redemption that He also asked
me to renounce all medicine and remedies in order to align my actions
with my faith. After confirming that this was Him speaking to me, I
swallowed with a hard gulp in my throat and said, “Yes, Lord.” Please
note, I do not teach that everyone should take the same approach, and we
will cover this in a later chapter. This said, once I submitted myself in
obedience to the Lord’s instruction, I woke up the next morning
completely healed of chronic severe allergies. I knew that this healing
was confirmation of God’s grace for me as I pursued experiential
knowledge of Him as my one and only Healer. Leading up to this point,
and even since then, the Lord has miraculously healed me of a variety of
things from minor to life-threatening. I will share some of these
experiences with you, mostly to encourage you in the struggle to
maintain simple faith rather than being side-tracked by methods and
approaches which wind up being self-focused, hyped-up, and lead to
striving rather than child-like dependence. My heart for you in this book

is to spare you the agony and frustration of chasing the wrong things so
that you can focus your attention entirely on the one true thing: God’s
grace through faith in Jesus.
One more thing before we get started. In the Book of Job, after Job lost
everything he had, including the unexpected deaths of his children, he
mourned but did not give way to anger at God or any unrighteousness in
his heart. Then, the evil one said something insightful about humans and
our health.
Job 2:4-5 - "Skin for skin!" Satan replied [to God]. "A man will
give all he has for his own life. But now stretch out your hand
and strike his flesh and bones, and he will surely curse you to
your face."
Even though the devil is a liar and the father of lies, he is an expert at
crafting lies that are based in truth. Truthfully, issues with our health do
call our faith to the forefront and expose what we really believe. When
our lives or way of life are affected by health issues, it can cause us to
give way to unbelief and to question God’s goodness. Our self-
righteousness and wrong beliefs can be exposed as they prove fruitless in
our pursuit of healing. Our selfishness in pursuing our own agenda for
our lives rather than God’s purposes can be revealed as our plans become
stunted. All of this can lead to painful disillusionment, spiritual fatigue,
and even anger at God. But it does not have to. If we believe correctly
about who God is and what He has done for us by giving His Son, we
can see the devil for the liar he is and not be shaken by any fiery dart he
throws at us, even the threat of death.
With all of this said, I am almost certain that I will offend you at some
point in this book. My aim is not to offend but to challenge you to go
deeper in your faith and to help you to stand firm in the goodness of the
Good News. Because of this, I cannot back down on what the Scriptures
reveal about healing no matter what victories or failures you may have
experienced or someone you know that died even though they seemed to
have strong faith or led a Bible study. I’m deeply sorry for your loss, but
it does not change God’s will or negate that Jesus’ stripes healed us at the
cross. The Word of God is a double-edged sword that reveals the areas of
our hearts where we are not at rest in Him so that we may repent and be

healed. So, rather than being offended, I encourage you to ask the Holy
Spirit to reveal truth to you so that you grow deeper in knowing and
believing that it is God’s will for you to be well. I have also assembled a
selection of healing Scriptures and supplied them as an appendix at the
end of this book.
For me, revelation that healing was included as a part of our redemption
became a catalyst that accelerated my understanding of the Gospel and
all Jesus truly did for us. I hope that it does the same for you. May this
book circumcise your heart with the sword of God’s Word so that you
believe and receive everything Jesus attained for you.
