Step One: Follow the link to open the website. Step Two: Select: poems and poets. Step Three: Select: browse poems. Step Four: You can find poems relating to a variety of subjects by expanding the subject bar on the left-hand side of the screen. Step Five: Select a subject to generate a list of subcategories to choose from. (You can refine your search further by expanding the other categories on the left-hand side of the screen. For example, you can select poems from a particular time period by expanding the poet's birth date category and choosing a century). Step Six: To open and read a poem, click on it's title.
Using the Poetry Foundation App
Step One: Click on the poetry icon to open the app, and select spin to start. Step Two: At the top of the screen, you will see two bars; the top bar represents the mood of a poem, and the bottom bar represents the subject. You can scroll through the options on both bars to create different combinations of mood and subject. This will generate a list of poems. Step Three: Once you're happy with your combination, scroll through the list on the left-hand side of the screen to explore the poems you've generated. Step Four: To read a poem, click on the title and it will appear on the right-hand side of the screen.
