This victory not only brought back the Jews to
the ancient and the loftiest of the nation's
holy places, the ones engraved in its memory
and history. The core issue of this victory is
that it actually nullified the difference
between the State of Israel and the Land
of Israel. This is the first time since the
destruction of the Second Temple that the
Land of Israel is in our hands. The state and

Former Prime Minister Ariel Sharon would take visiting guests to this
site to visualize the strategic importance of the Shomron mountain region
for the security of Israel. One of those guests was George W. Bush,
when he was governor of Texas.

Sharon: "Do you see the buildings? These are the homes of Tel Aviv. And there is Tel
Aviv's beach, and to the left is Ben-Gurion Airport and right there are the houses of Rosh
Ha'ayin. Governor, if we leave this, we will be left with a narrow waist of only a few
miles to the east from the sea." Bush replied, "I can understand that. It would be a
real madness."

When the Children of Israel crossed the Jordan River and came to Mount
Gerizim and Mount Ebal which are in Shomron, in the vicinity of Shechem
near Elon Moreh, as it is said, “they are on the other side of the Jordan…
in the land of the Canaanites… by Elon Moreh (Deut. 11:30), and
elsewhere it says, “And Abram passed through the land unto the place
of Shechem unto Elon Moreh” (Genesis 12:6) just as Elon Moreh is
mentioned in this latter verse is Shechem, so the Elon Moreh mentioned
