PUZZLES (OF All  TYPES ) 

QUES 1 

Four companies namely FedEx, Google, Microsoft and Samsung are disguised differently as P, Q, R and S 
not necessarily in the same order. Each of the given companies has two offices in California. Each office 
has one GM, either a male or a female. Two out of the four companies have a male and a female GM 
each. One company has two female GMs and Samsung has two male GMs. Mr. John is a GM in company 
P. Company Q and FedEx have at least one female GM. Miss Anna is not a GM in Google. Mr. Joy is a GM 
in company R. Miss Stella and Mr. Harry are not GMs in the same company. Mr. Steve does not have a 
female colleague as GM of the other office of the same company he works in. Miss Emily is a GM in one 
of the given companies. Miss Andreena is not a GM in Microsoft and is a GM in the same company as 
Miss Anna’s. Microsoft is not disguised as Company Q. Mr. Joy is not a GM in Samsung.

QUES 2 

Eight friends ‐ Karan, Aman, Harshit, Sumit, Ritika, Pragya, Nishtha and Vaishali are sitting around a 
circular table facing the centre but not necessarily in the same order. Each of them is wearing a t‐shirt of 
a different colour, viz. Black, White, Blue, Yellow, Red, Green, Grey and Pink. Karan sits third to the right 
of the person who is wearing pink t‐shirt. The persons wearing Blue and Grey coloured t‐shirts are 
immediate neighbours. Only two persons sit between the person wearing pink t‐shirt and Vaishali. 
Neither Karan nor Vaishali are wearing blue and grey t‐shirts. The person who is wearing grey t‐shirt is 
not an immediate neighbour of the person wearing pink t‐shirt. The person wearing black t‐shirt sits 
second to the left of Ritika. Ritika is not an immediate neighbour of Vaishali. The person wearing black t‐
shirt is an immediate neighbour of the persons wearing red and yellow t‐shirts. The person wearing red 
t‐shirt sits third to the right of Aman. Aman is not wearing grey t‐shirt. Harshit sits to the immediate 
right of the person wearing white t‐shirt. Karan is not wearing white t‐shirt. Pragya is not an immediate 
neighbour of Karan. Nishtha is not an immediate neighbour of the person wearing black t‐shirt. 
 

QUES 3 

Eight persons Aman, Suman, Bimal, Nirmal, Kamal, Suresh, Naresh and Harish are sitting
around a circular table facing the centre but not necessarily in the same order. Each one of them
holds a different post in Elite Convent School viz. Vice Principal, Coordinator, Secretary, HOD
Commerce, HOD Science, Accountant, HOD Arts and Principal.

Aman sits third to right of the Principal. Only two people sit between the Principal and Harish.
HOD Science and the Coordinator are immediate neighbours of each other. Neither Aman nor
Harish is HOD Science or Coordinator. HOD Science is not an immediate neighbour of the
Principal. The Vice Principal sits second to the left of Kamal. Kamal is not an immediate
neighbour of Harish. The Vice Principal is an immediate neighbour of both Accountant and the
HOD Arts. HOD Arts sits third to right of Suman. Suman is not the HOD Science. Bimal sits to
the immediate right of the Secretary. Aman is not the Secretary. Suresh is not an immediate
neighbour of Aman. Naresh is not an immediate neighbour of the Vice Principal.

 
 

QUES 4 

1. There is a family of six persons – R, S, T, U, V and W. They are teacher, lecturer,


company secretary, lawyer, doctor and businessman, not necessarily in the same order.
2. There are two married couples in the family.
3. U, the lawyer is married to the lady teacher.
4. W, the businessman, is the son of S and brother of V.
5. T, the company secretary, is the daughter in law of R.
6. The lecturer is married to the Company Secretary.
7. V is an unmarried doctor.
8. R is the grandmother of W.
 

QUES 5 

Five female friends namely Ashi, Kriti, Nikita, Shruti and Tripti and five male friends namely Aman, 
Deepak, Gaurav, Madhav and Yogesh sat together on the two sides of a rectangular table for a quiz 
competition. Females sat alternatingly with and opposite to male members. Madhav sat in a central 
position. Shruti sat opposite to Aman. Kriti sat next to the right of Madhav and third to the right of 
Aman. Tripti sat to the left of Shruti at the extreme end. Nikita sat two places from Kriti to her left and 
Gaurav sat opposite to Kriti. Deepak was seated three places from Tripti to her right. 

QUES 6 

There are eight family members A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H sitting around a circular table. All of them own 
different cars among ‐ Santro, Zen, Alto, i20, Brio, Cruz, Swift and Polo but not necessarily in the same 
order. H owns Santro and is the brother of B. C sits second to the right of F’s wife, who does not own 
Brio. Both the immediate neighbours of C are females. E’s son sits second to the left of H and on the 
immediate right of the person who owns Cruz. H is not an immediate neighbour of F’s wife. E’s son owns 
Swift. Only one person sits between G and H. F’s sister E sits on the immediate right of her father, who 
owns Zen. G is mother of B. Only one person sits between F’s father and A. A sits on the immediate left 
of the person who owns Alto. Only one person sits between F and B. B sits second to the left of the 
person who owns Polo. B is father of D and not an immediate neighbour of A. 

QUES 7 

Eight people P, Q, R, S, T, U, V and W work in three different banks: ICICI Bank, Axis Bank and HDFC 
Bank. Out of these, two are females who work in different banks and have different specializations. Two 
of them are specialists in Forex, two in Credit, two in Wholesale Banking and one each in IT and Risk 
Management. S, working in ICICI Bank is a specialist in Credit and her friend V, a Forex specialist is 
working in HDFC Bank. W, a specialist in Credit, is working with Q, a specialist in Wholesale Banking and 
does not work in Axis Bank. R is not a specialist in Risk Management. No two persons with same 
specializations work together. U is a specialist in Wholesale Banking working in Axis Bank and his friend 
P is a specialist in Forex and is working in ICICI Bank with only one other specialist. Not more than three 
of them work in any bank. No female is a specialist in IT or Risk Management.

QUES 8 

Four marketing experts Alyque, Piyush, Prasoon and Sujit are standing in a queue one behind the
other in the increasing order of their marketing quotient. The marketing quotient is equal to the
product of number of awards won at Cannes and number of awards lost when nominated. It is
known that

(i) The number of awards won or lost is at least 3 and at most 6.

(ii) No two marketing experts won or lost equal number of awards

(iii) No marketing expert won the same number of awards which he lost
(iv) Alyque’s marketing quotient is 20 and Piyush won the maximum number of awards

(v) Sujit lost 4 awards and Prasoon won more awards than Alyquee

QUES 9 

Six friends - A, B, C, D, E, F meet each other after a long time in a café and are sitting around a
circular table facing towards the centre of the table. They are from different IITs - IIT Delhi, IIT
Bombay, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee. They are studying different
branches of engineering - Mechanical, Electronics, Computer Science, Civil, Chemical and
Aeronautical, but not necessarily in the same order.

The persons who are from IIT Delhi, IIT Kanpur and IIT Madras are not studying Mechanical or
Electronics Engineering. The persons who are studying Computer Science and Chemical
engineering are not from IIT Delhi or IIT Kanpur. A is not studying Mechanical engineering and
he is not on the immediate left of the person who is from IIT Kharagpur. The only person who is
between E and F is from IIT Bombay. The person, who is on the left side of the student who is
studying Mechanical engineering, is not from IIT Roorkee. D is from IIT Kharagpur and he is
studying Computer Science also he is facing the person who is from IIT Bombay. The person
who is from IIT Delhi is seated opposite to the person who is studying Aeronautical engineering.
The person who is studying Computer Science is on the immediate left of the student who is
from IIT Madras. The person who is from IIT Roorkee is on the immediate right of the person,
who studies Mechanical Engineering but on the immediate left of the person, who is from IIT
Kanpur. C is not from IIT Kanpur and F is not from IIT Delhi.
 

QUES 10 

A group of five boys – Sonam, Deepika, Anushka, Alia and Shraddha and a group of five girls –
Siddhartha, Varun, Ranbir, Ranveer and Shahid are standing in two rows facing each other (not
in the same order). The group of girls is facing north.

Shraddha is not at any ends. Anushka is to the immediate right of Deepika and Aila is to the left
of Sonam, who is facing Siddhartha. There are as many girls between Siddhartha & Varun as
between Ranbir & Ranveer. Sonam is second to the left of Deepika. Ranbir & Ranveer are not
facing either Deepika or Alia.

QUES 11 

Ten friends (five boys Param, Karan, Rohan, Sumit and Taman and five girls Anisha, Ellie,
Iptisha, Oshika and Urvashi) are playing a game and they are sitting in a circle. The distance
between every two friends is equal. Two boys and two girls are facing opposite to the centre of
the circle and other six friends are facing towards the centre.

Anisha is fourth to the left of Oshika, who is third to the right of Param. Rohan is second to the
right of Taman, who is not sitting next to Ellie. There are three friends between Rohan and
Iptisha. Sumit is second to the left of Urvashi and facing the centre of the circle. Param and Ellie
are sitting opposite and facing each other. Iptisha is second to the left of Karan. Anisha is facing
opposite to the centre of the circle. More than three boys or girls are not sitting together. Not
more than two friends who are facing opposite to the centre of the circle are sitting together.

QUES 12 

Eight friends‐ Mani, Noni, Orea, Piggy, Ruhi, Sally, Terry and Usha are supporting four IPL Teams, 
Mumbai Indians (MI), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and Rajasthan Royals 
(RR) are sitting around a circular table facing the centre of the table. Two people are supporting each 
team, but not necessarily in the same order. All these friends have different hobbies i.e. ‐Dancing, 
Singing, Cycling, Driving, Mimicry, Painting, Gardening and Cooking. No two supporters of the same IPL 
Teams are sitting adjacent to each other except those of Royal Challengers Bangalore. The person who 
likes driving is sitting on the immediate left of the person who likes cooking. Ruhi neither likes Cooking 
nor Cycling. Usha likes Painting and supports Kings XI Punjab and is sitting to the immediate left of Noni, 
who supports Royal Challengers Bangalore. Noni does not like Cycling. Sally likes Mimicry and is 
supporting Royal Challengers Bangalore, who is sitting opposite to Terry. Only Mani, who likes Singing, is 
sitting between Terry, who likes driving and the person who likes Gardening. Supporters of Mumbai 
Indians are sitting opposite to each other. Each of the persons who support Rajasthan Royals is sitting 
adjacent to a supporter of Mumbai Indians. Piggy does not like cooking. 
 

QUES 13 

There are six Engineers, Namit, Manish, Roshan, Riya, Pankit and Punit from six different companies, 
Wipro, Infosys, Google, IBM, Forex and Grant Thornton were going to attend a seminar in Delhi. On their 
way, they met with an accident and were admitted in three different hospitals. At least two Engineers’ 
were admitted in the same hospitals. Each of them is a specialist in different fields Civil, Chemical, 
Geotechnical, Aeronautics, Computer Science and Mechanical. Namit was admitted in Fortis hospital 
and he is from Infosys but he is neither Chemical nor Geotechnical Engineer. Pankit is from Wipro and he 
is a Mechanical engineer. He was not admitted with Roshan. Riya was admitted with the engineer from 
IBM. One of the engineers who were admitted in Max Healthcare hospital is a Chemical engineer. 
Manish is not from Google and Grant Thornton and he is an Aeronautics Engineer. One of the engineers 
who were admitted in Saket City hospital is a Computer Science engineer. Punit is neither from Forex 
nor from Grant Thornton. Geotechnical engineer and Mechanical engineer were not admitted in Fortis 
hospital. Engineers from Wipro and Google were admitted together. The Aeronautics engineer was 
admitted in Fortis hospital. The engineer whose field is Mechanical was admitted at Max Healthcare 
hospital.

QUES 14 

Eight persons Aman, Brini, Charu, David, Ellie, Farhan, Garvit and Himesh are seated around a
circular table facing the centre, but not necessarily in the same order. Each of them studies in a
different college. One of them studies in Commerce Community College. It is also known that:

(i) David is third to the left of the one who studies in Private College of Commerce, who is third
to the left of the one who studies in Professional College of Engineering, who is not Charu.

(ii) Farhan studies in College of Law and sits second to the right of Aman.

(iii) Neither Aman nor the one in College of Law is adjacent to the one who is in Professional
College of Engineering.

(iv) David is neither a student of Elite College nor National Arts College. Garvit is to the
immediate left of Brini.

(v) Only one person sits between the student of Elite College and the student of National Arts
College counting in one direction, and neither the student of Elite College nor the student of
National Arts College is adjacent to Aman.

(vi) The one in Business School is seated opposite Charu and Himesh is seated opposite the
student of National Arts College.

(vii) The student of Private College of Commerce is not adjacent to the student of School of
Management, who is to the immediate right of the one studying in Elite College.

 
 

QUES 15 

Ashutosh, Dhanya, Gagan, Manya, Harshit, Pratiksha and Saksham are seven persons who travel to 
office everyday by Virar fast local train which stops at five stations ‐ Borivali, Malad, Andheri, Dadar and 
Church Gate respectively after it leaves the base station i.e. Virar. Three among them get in at the base 
station. Harshit gets down at the next station at which Pratiksha gets down. Dhanya does not get down 
with either Ashutosh or Manya. Saksham alone gets in at Andheri station and gets down with Gagan 
after one station. Ashutosh travels between only two stations and gets down at Church Gate station. 
None of them gets in at Malad station. Gagan gets in with Pratiksha but does not get in with either 
Dhanya or Harshit. Manya gets in with two others and gets down alone after Harshit. Dhanya and 
Harshit work in the same office and get down together at Andheri station. None of them gets down at 
Borivali station.

Eight friends ‐ P, Q, R, S, T, U, V and W are sitting around a circular table not necessarily in the same 
order. Three of them are facing outside (opposite to the centre) while five are facing the centre. There 
are equal number of males and females in the group.  R is facing the centre. T is sitting third to the right 
of R. U is sitting third to the left of T. Three persons are sitting between U and Q. The immediate 
neighbours of Q are females. V is sitting third to the right of U. S is sitting third to the right of P. P is not 
an immediate neighbour of T. The immediate neighbours of T are males and are facing the centre. The 
immediate neighbours of S are females and face outside. The one sitting third to the left of Q is a male.

QUES 17 

Six persons A, B, C, D, E and F are to be allotted a room in a hotel. There are six rooms numbered 601, 
602, 603, 604, 605 and 606 (from left to right) and one person is to be alloted one room. Moreover, A 
cannot be in a room immediately to the left or immediately to the right of that of B. C must be in a room 
immediately to the left of D’s room. F cannot be in room no. 606. 

There are eight family members Rohit, Sameer, Dinesh, Pallavi, Shilpa, Sachin, Priya and Manish sitting 
around a circular table. All of them own different cars among ‐ Verna, Civic, Duster, Corolla, Punto, 
Octavia, Xcent and Amaze but not necessarily in the same order. Manish owns Verna and is the brother 
of Sameer. Dinesh sits second to the right of Sachin’s wife, who does not own Punto. Both the 
immediate neighbors of Dinesh are females. Shilpa’s son sits second to the left of Manish and on the

Shilpa’s son owns Xcent. Only one person sits between Priya and Manish. Sachin’s sister Shilpa sits on 
the immediate right of her father, who owns Civic. Priya is mother of Sameer. Only one person sits 
between Sachin’s father and Rohit. Rohit sits on the immediate left of the person who owns Duster. 
Only one person sits between Sachin and Sameer. Sameer sits second to the left of the person who 
owns Amaze. Sameer is father of Pallavi and not an immediate neighbor of Rohit. 

QUES 19 

Shivani, Preetika, Aniket, Deepak, Saurabh, Mehak and Niharika are seven friends specializing in 
different fields of Management, namely Finance, Marketing, Human Resource, Systems, Operations, 
International Business and Capital Markets, not necessarily in this order. Each of them studies in three 
different B‐schools IIM, FMS and XLRI. Not less than two study in any B‐school. Deepak studies Human 
Resource in IIM. The one who studies Marketing does not study in XLRI. Mehak studies Capital Markets 
in FMS with only Preetika. Shivani does not study in IIM and does not study Operations. Saurabh studies 
International Business and does not study in IIM. Niharika studies Systems but not in IIM. None in IIM 
studies Finance or Operations.

QUES 20 

In an electronics store, five laptops Acer, Lenovo, Dell, IBM and HP and five mobile phones Samsung, 
Apple, Nokia, Motorola and Sony are put on display together on the two sides of a rectangular table. 
Laptops are placed alternatingly with and opposite to mobile phones. Motorola was placed in a central 
position. IBM was placed opposite to Samsung. Lenovo was placed next to the right of Motorola and 
third to the right of Samsung. HP was placed to the left of IBM at the extreme end. Dell was placed two 
places from Lenovo to its left and Nokia was placed opposite to Lenovo. Apple was placed three places 
from HP to its right. 

QUES2 1 

Six players’ posters A, B, C, D, E and F are arranged from left to right (not necessarily in the same order). 
The players in the posters are wearing jerseys of different numbers ‐ 25, 07, 99, 34, 10 and 01(not 
necessarily in the same order). The players are Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, 
Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja. MS Dhoni is wearing jersey no. 25 but he is not in poster D. Poster A 
which has Virat Kohli wearing jersey no. 01, is at the extreme right. Shikhar Dhawan is neither in poster 
D nor in F and he is not wearing either jersey no. 99 or 10. Poster C has Rohit Sharma wearing jersey no. 
34 and is fourth from right and next to poster B having Ravindra Jadeja in it.

QUES 22 

Eight friends Ashutosh, Deepak, Kriti, Monika, Piyush, Ruchi, Srishti and Tushar are sitting
around circular table and pursuing eight different courses, viz. B. Com, B. Sc, BA, MBBS, B.
Tech, MBA, M. Tech and MA, not necessarily in the same order. They are also learning three
foreign languages, viz. French, Mandarin and German. At least two persons learn one foreign
language.

Only Monika and Piyush are learning French. Monika is third to right of Piyush. Ashutosh is
pursuing M. Tech and is learning Mandarin and is sitting to the immediate right of Piyush. Ruchi
is pursuing MBBS and is learning German. Tushar is learning the same language as Srishti learns
who is third to left of Ruchi and fourth to right of Deepak. Kriti is sitting exact opposite of
Monika who is pursuing B. Com. Persons pursuing MA and BA are learning Mandarin. Srishti is
pursuing MBA while Deepak is pursuing BA who is learning Mandarin. Tushar is pursuing B.
Tech.
 

QUES 23 

Eight people are sitting in two parallel rows containing four people each, in such a way that there
is an equal distance between and adjacent persons. In row 1, Akshay, Deepali, Nidhi and Kartik
are seated and all of them are facing south. In row 2, Mudita, Rajeev, Sainyam and Tanu are
seated and all of them are facing North. Therefore, in the given sitting arrangement each member
seated in a row faces another member of other row. Each one of them are going abroad on a
different airline, viz. Air India, Oman Air, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, Air France, Jet
Airways, Emirates Airways and Qantas Airways but not necessarily in the same order.

Deepali sits second to the right of the person travelling by Qantas Airways. Sainyam faces the
immediate neighbor of the person travelling by Qantas Airways. Only one person sits between
Sainyam and the Singapore Airlines passenger. Two people sit between Tanu and the Emirates
Airways passenger. Kartik faces the immediate neighbor of Singapore Airlines passenger. Only
one person sits between Qatar Airways passenger and Nidhi. Qatar Airways passenger does not
sit at any of the extreme ends. Immediate neighbor of Kartik faces the Oman Air passenger,
Mudita faces Air India passenger, Rajeev is not travelling by Jet Airways.
 

QUES 24 

Seven Management students Aparna, Deepak, Mohit, Mannat, Shubham, Priyali and Shalini
from different specializations among Finance, Marketing and Human Resource are selected to
organize three events Business Quiz, Paper Presentation and Business Plan in the upcoming
college fest. At least two students are selected from each specialisation and at least two students
are assigned to each event. No two students from same specialisation organize the same event.
Further, it is known that:

(i) Mohit is from Human Resource and another student from his specialisation is organizing
Business Plan

(ii) Deepak is organizing Business Quiz and the other student organizing Business Quiz with him
is from Human Resource, who is not Mohit.

(iii) Priyali is from Marketing and she is organizing Business Quiz. Shubham is also from
Marketing.

(iv) Aparna and Mannat are organizing the same event but it is not Paper Presentation.

(v) Deepak and Mannat are from the same specialisation. Aparna and Shalini are from the same
specialisation

QUES 25 

P, Q, R, S, T, U, V and W are eight bikes of different brands B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B6, B7 and B8
not necessarily in the same order. They are parked in a circular ground – such that four of them
are facing inside of the circle and four of them are parked facing the outside of the circle. Each of
them has different colours – blue, red, green and yellow. There are exactly two bikes of each
colour. It is known that:

(i) P and W are diametrically opposite each other and have the same colour. No other pair of
bikes parked diametrically opposite each other have the same colour

(ii) W from B1 is green. It is parked immediately to the left of both R from B2 and Q from B3.

(iii) The bike parked diametrically opposite the bike from B2 faces inside

(iv) V from B5 is parked immediately to the left of P from B4

(v) R and both its immediate neighbours face inside

(vi) S from B6 is parked diametrically opposite T.

(vii) The colours of Q and R are yellow and blue respectively

(viii) S, which is yellow, is parked third to the left of the bike from B8

(ix) The bike from B7 is red and is the only bike parked between the two bikes of blue colour
 

QUES 26 

Twenty One MLAs from four states (Gujarat, Maharashtra, West Bengal and Delhi) attended a 
conference. Each MLA was from one of the four political parties, BJP, Congress, AAP and Trinamool 
Congress. It is also known that, the number of BJP MLAs who attended the conference was exactly half 
the number of the MLAs of each of the three other political parties. No BJP MLA came from Gujarat. 
Otherwise, from all the states including Gujarat at least one MLA of all the political parties was present.  
There were not more than 3 MLAs of a single political party from a particular state present for the 
conference. If there had been one less MLA from West Bengal then the MLAs from Maharashtra would 
have been twice as many as from each state. A and B are AAP MLAs from West Bengal who attended the

Hockey and Shalu studied in colleges given Grade D. Only one college is given Grade C and all
the other colleges apart from the college which has been given Grade E are given either Grade D
