Assignment

An electromyography (EMG) is a measurement of the electrical activity in muscles as a byproduct


of contraction. An EMG is the summation of action potentials from the muscle fibers under the
electrodes placed on the skin. The more muscles that fire, the greater the amount of action
potentials recorded and the greater the EMG reading. Develop a MATLAB mathematical model
of biopotential electrodes use to record EMG signals. The equivalent circuit of a single electrode-
electrolyte interface is shown as in the figure below. Use a normal action potential as a stimulus
(figure show below).

MODEL PARAMETERS
Ecell: Half-cell potential for electrode 0.22 V (Ag/AgCl electrode)
Rs: Resistance of electrode and lead wire 1 k ohm
Rd: Resistance of electrode-electrolyte interface 10 k ohm
Cd: Capacitance of electrode-electrolyte interface 10uF
