Iloilo River Esplanade is an esplanade along Iloilo River in Mandurriao, Iloilo City, Philippines that

was opened on August 18, 2012.[1] It stretches 1.2 Kilometers from Diversion Road (officially Sen.
Benigno Aquino Jr. Avenue) to Carpenter Bridge. The project cost ₱58.7 million.[2] and was designed
by Paolo Alcazaren. There are proposals to extend the Esplanade from the Carpenter Bridge to
Barangay Sooc, Arevalo, Iloilo City and from the Diversion Road to Jalandoni Bridge

The Iloilo Esplanade or simply the “esplanade” as locals call it is a peaceful

promenade that runs alongside the Iloilo River. It is one of best showcases of
the city’s efforts to rehabilitate and protect the Iloilo River and promote active
lifestyles. It is also a popular tourist spot where visitors can enjoy a leisurely
stroll and enjoy the serene views along the river.

The best time to visit the is during the early morning and late afternoon hours
when the sun is low and the sky glows with the romantic soft twilight. Locals
usually go to the esplanade around this time for a hearty jog or to hang out
with friends and family in coffee shops and restaurants nearby.

A nice walking tour for visitors starts with a visit to Molo Church, then a
lengthy sunset walk along the esplanade, which may be capped with a hearty
meal and drinks at Smallville or Atria Park District.

The Iloilo Esplanade can be easily reached by taxis and jeepneys. It has two
main entrances. The eastern end is located along Diversion Road (Benigno
Aquino Avenue) in Mandurriao district. You can get there by jeepney on these
routes: Leganes, SM Mandurriao, Ungka UI, City Proper, and Santa Barbara.
From those coming from Smallville or Atria Park District, take a shortcut
through the footpath in Riverside Boardwalk. Near the west end is Carpenter’s
Bridge located on the boundary of Molo and Mandurriao. You can take the
Molo Mandurriao or Oton jeepney routes to get there. This side is a 5-minute
walk from Molo Church and Molo Plaza.
