A magnitude 6.1 earthquake hit Luzon at 5:11 pm, Monday
of April 22.The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) informed that its epicenter was in Castillejos Zambales. Manila City was one of the cities that experienced intensity V (Rappler.com, 2019). Central Luzon region experienced damage and casualties due to it being the most seismically active area in the Philippines with the presence of Philippine fault, Iba fault, East Zambales fault, and the Manila Trench, as PHIVOLCS stated ("Philippines: Northern Philippines earthquake - Flash Update No. 1 (23 April 2019) - Philippines", 2019). According to Phivolcs, the earthquake was a minor one despite causing damage to several parts of Luzon (philstar.com, 2019). Science Undersecretary and Phivolcs director Renato Solidum Jr. says (Flores, 2019): “Blind active faults are active faults which have not pierced through the ground surface. They are „blind‟ faults because although they may have moved in the past, the magnitudes these faults generated were not enough to break into the ground surface.”
