INTERVIEW SHEET FOR A SPORTS COACH

1.) How long you've been into coaching?


I am a swimming coach for almost three years.
2.) What is your coaching philosophy?
These are the following philosophy that I've used in teaching my athletes,
Discipline, I'm trying to impose this to my athletes because through this, they will
become more serious to our trainings and know the value of what they've do.
I also want them to aim high, I don't want them to settle for less. I want them to become
more successful athletes in the near future.
3.) How does this philosophy helps you in your coaching career?
I am an open-minded coach, I also willing to learn from my athletes because I do
believe that each one of my athletes has their own unique story and experiences in life
that could also teach me to become more responsible coach and person as well.

4.) What is the best learning that you've gain in your coaching career?
The best learning that I've learn in my coaching career is having discipline towards
myself and to my athletes. In order to make my athletes more disciplined I need to start
it to myself first. I should be the role model of my athletes so that they would follow also
what I have.

5.) a. What is the worst experience you've encountered as a coach?


So far the most common problem that I have encountered to my athletes is the
repetition of my instructions. Everytime that I give them instructions I always makes sure
that they will understand what I say but every after I'm done telling the instructions they
will ask again what I have said and it makes me irritated.
b. How do you overcome such conflicts?
I do believe that patience is a virtue, that's why for me, patience is always the answer
for all the conflicts that I have encountered to my athletes.

6.) What can you advise to all of us aspiring coaches ?


You need to be more patient to all of your athletes. Each one of them is inique, from
their attitude, looks, experiences and life stories so you need to have more patience in
handling your athletes.
