Job seeking is becoming an increasingly competitive sport these days.

With thousands of students graduating each year and limited number of

Good Day i’m first year nursing student so far maganda naman yung
course sa lyceum of the philippines pero pinapashift ako sa BSBA or
business management iniisip ko kase kung itutuloy ko yung Nursing
maganda naman kase diba may K-12 system tayo? edi 2 years walang new
fresh grad. so i have a big chance na makapag abroad. eto po ang

good day!
I’ll just going to ask something. Currently I’m a grade 10 student

and our school is included in the k12 program. I’m worried about
what will I’m going to take for college. My mom said I should take
accountancy or engineering but for me I want to take Medtech or
Psychology. I not that good in math but I can also accept my mom’s
want for me. I don’t know what to do. Please give me an advice about

parents mo. kasi mahirap mag aral kung hndi mo naman gusto ung
inaaral mo or ung ginagawa mo. Im a psych student. Onti lng

construction firm, I want to leave my job and will study again and
take a civil engineering course, is it ideal? I am 26 years old

Hi po, i just want to ask something, well advice na din po. I ‘m
currently a 1st yr college student. Occupational therapy is the
program that I’m taking but i’m planning to shift. Psychology sana
ang kukunin ko, pero nagdadalawang isip pa po ako kung i will shift
sa psych because a lot of people told me that psych is not that good
in the Philippines and abroad. Both OT and psych are connected into
teaching special kids, i want to teach speacial kids in the future.
Sana matulungan niyo po ako para maging clear din po sa akin. Thank you!

Hi, Aries!
We don’t have any statistics at hand, so that will be difficult

to answer for us. From what we’ve read on the news, changes in
regulations have caused the demand for nurses to decrease in
some countries and increase in others, so you can say that the
trend fluctuates.
From what little we know, qualifications gained in the

Philippines are recognized in other countries in varying
degrees, but they usually come hand in hand with additional
trainings / certifications gained in the country where you
intend to seek employment.
That’s just from what we know, though, so it’s best if you’ll

still ask around and conduct additional research for more
accurate and detailed information.

Hi, Bianca!
From what we know, most colleges / universities use the same

entrance exam for all courses, so it’s neither particularly easy
nor particularly difficult for students targeting a specific
course (although we’re not sure if the same thing is true with
state or private universities where there is very stiff
competition for slots).
That said, working on your English communication and

comprehension skills wouldn’t hurt as English is almost always a
part of every exam, not to mention that AB Mass Comm has plenty
of Communication and English subjects.

Hi po. Matanong ko lang po. Ang BS in Architecture ba ay in-demand

at saka pwede rin ho ba ito mag-apply as office staff na related
yung grafting, sketch proposal etc. ? Nalilito na po ako kung ano
kukunin ko, BS architecture ba o BS culinary arts. Ang hilig ko po
kasi ay arts at pagluluto. Ang kaso lang, ang iniisip ko po kasi,
after graduate eh hindi ako kagad makakuha ng trabaho. Tas narinig
ko po sa iba na mas maganda daw po ang culinary kesa sa architecture.

Yes, architects and chefs are both included in DOLE’s list of

in-demand jobs.
Yes, we believe that’s what architects usually do.
Hmmm… based on DOLE’s list and from what we hear and read on the
news, they seem to be both fairly in-demand although lately,
cruise lines have been conducting frequent mass hiring to fill
up vacant positions including those for chefs’.

From what we know, TESDA sometimes work with private companies

that hire graduates of specific TESDA courses after graduation.
An example of this was when graduates of their landscaping
course were hired by Nuvali after graduating. We’re not too sure
if the same goes with other courses, though. It might be best if
you’ll call TESDA so they can give you a more accurate and
detailed reply.

We understand your sentiment, but don’t lose hope. Employment

trends change over time, though, so what may not be particularly
in demand this year might become more in demand in the years to
come. While you’re waiting for more favorable trends, you could
also probably explore other potential or related careers by
taking supplementary courses that can increase your
marketability as a future job seeker.

If occupations are hard to fill, it means there are a lot of

companies/agencies looking for potential employees, but there
are not enough qualified individuals who can do the job, so the
companies have to compete to get the qualified individual. This
is the opposite of the typical scenario where several applicants
compete for one job.

hi i’m jenelou nahihirapn po akong magdecide ng course na

kukunin ko pero sabi nila IT na lang daw ang kunin ko pero ang
iniisip ko may makukuha kaya akong job agad pagkagraduate ko ano
po bang pwedeng maging job mo if nakagraduate ka ng BSIT ?and at
isa pa pong course na gusto ko is MASS COM paro sabi ng ate ko
fluid english daw at mahirap ,hindi naman po ako magaling sa
