9 year old kid is a secret millionaire because of online poker. The story called , “The Grind” is set at
night. Hidden under blankets, our hero plays a poker tournament online and aims to win a million
bucks. The revelation that he is just 9 years old comes in the end when his mom calls him out to get
ready for school.

The above is one point of view. The other pov can be a linear narrative about this kid who learns
poker from a book in the school library, becomes very good at it. Decides to make an online poker
account and runs it up to millions. The long version can be how he learns the meaning of life and
what happens to him because of his addiction to poker.

The Grind

How do you concentrate on the task at hand, when there are no many distractions around. It had
been over 7 minutes since, Robbie had shut the door of his room. The lights had been switched off
and now all he had to do was listen. When he felt, the whole house silent and thought it was time to
begin, he quietly got up from his bed, removed the ipad from his bag and switched it on. The battery
showed 88 percent. A smiled crept up on his innocent face. He knew 88 percent wud last him the
whole night. Wasting no time he opened the Pokerstars app on his device and went to the log in
page. It was time for Aqua77 to rise.

Inspired by his favourite superhero, Aquaman, Robbie decided to use Aqua77 as his nickname for his
online poker app. It had been 2 years since he created his id but no one in his house knew about it.
He knew they wudnt understand.

The Sunday million it was called. A 250 dollar buy in and a guaranteed million dollar pricepool
meant the Sunday million would attract thousands of pokerplayers around the world. 250 doolars
was a lot of money where he came from. But his checking account at the time showed 2500 dollars
and he knew 10 percent of everything he owned was worth a shot.

And so he registered. And the grind finally began. The tournament went on for 12 hrs. the grind was
bery bery long but he made it. Robbie couldn’t wint he tournament but he finished in 4th place which
paide 72000 dollars. Now all he had do was wait. Wait for time to pass and reach a point whre he
cud just click on the withdraw button and start using the money for his real life purpose.

Rob Wake up its 9 already!!. The mini daydream came to a sudden halt when he heard that shriek
from downstairs. That familiar voice that kept waking him up everyday was of his stepmother Anne
who hated the fact that she had to raise 3 kids instead of her 2 because of a mistake from her past.

But he knew she didn’t have 72000 dollars to her name. All she had was a foul mood and an
unemployed husband who made her hate her life more than anything to care about. That made him
smile even more. He had 72000 dollars who no one knew about and all he had to do was wait. Wait
for the right time.
How manh times do I have to call u? she bellowed from outside the room. If u aren’t down in the
next 20 minuts then you can forget about breakfast.

As if he cared.

For 9 year old Rob, it was time to go to school. It would be a good long 7 years before he can legally
lay claim to the money he earned last night . 9 year old Robbie knew it right at that instant, the real
grind is just about to begin.
